OMG! American Girl Doll stuff is soo expensive!

Yep, same boat here. DD is asking Santa for another doll and Julie's bed which is $118. :scared1:

Luckily, DD has inherited a ton of stuff from my niece who is now 17. I did break down and buy the bed b/c I figured if she was only asking Santa for those 2 things, I better get one of them. However, she will be getting a lot less presents under the tree this year. I refused to get her a doll b/c she has 2 of her own, bought by my cousin and aunt. She has inherited a few more dolls.

I figure once she is finished with the American girl doll phase, at least the stuff will resell at a great price on craigslist or ebay. Hopefully, she takes care of it.

I agree keep checking the clearance section on the American girl site. Lately, there hasn't been much there, but in the past, I've bought quite a few outfits for "better" prices.

You might want to try craigslist and ebay too. Someone was selling the bathtub for $20 which retails for $55 the other day. I was too late though, she sold it right away.

Good luck!

My mom just bought Julie for my DD (6) for Christmas. Its her 1st AG doll. My daughter loves that stinkin' bed too. You mean the canopy one? She's not getting it though. My mom would have bought it too. I love that she buys things for my kids but over $100.00 for a doll bed?

We got her a bunch of outfits and the carrying case. I can't wait for her to see it. She's going to love it.

I am not going to add it up, because I would pass out.:rotfl:
Let's just say that I am sitting here with all the Christmas presents ready to be wrapped and there are A LOT of AG boxes. And Lego, too.:thumbsup2
Sounds like my house! DD has 6 dolls and one Bitty Baby. I said "no" to more dolls. After awhile, they seem all the same. She has tons of clothes and some furniture. Last year's biggie was the Bitty Baby crib and bedding.
DS is the Legomaniac. We just got him a loft bed and two huge bookcases for all of his collections.

Anyway, like PPs have said, you can get some of the Target stuff. It is a great way to build a wardrobe!

We recently got sucked into the whole AG thing. My DD8, got her first doll, Ivy, from my DBro for her birthday and my dad bought her Rebecca for Christmas. So, lucky me, I haven't had to shell out any cash for AG stuff, yet! :lmao:

I did order some outfits for the dolls and a few accesories from AG. Oh, I found a book on Amazon on how to make doll clothes for AG dolls. My DD is really into sewing, so I thought she'd really like that. :thumbsup2

This is why my mom only let me read the books when I was younger.

AG dolls, etc are expensive but they last Forever. When I was...8 or so I got Kirsten. I'm 30 now and I still have her. I played with her a LOT but she's still perfect. My sister is 9 and I spoil her rotten. I've gotten her probably 4 or 5 of the dolls over the years. This year she asked for Josephina so I got her that and a couple things for her. When Samatha retired I bought her and her friend for myself!

Keep an eye out for craft shows too-you can get all kinds of stuff for AG dolls at those.
