Olympus Evolt Series

did u check epinion dot com

they compare prices.

I got it! I got it!! :yay:

Funny you posted the butterflyphoto Mckymousefn, that's where I ordered it - $629. (Hopefully they're legit but it did seem so and has a BBB rating.)

I'm excited! Any tips for starting out? I've never used an SLR before.

I also need to pick up a CF card, look into battery options and a camera case. I plan to use the two lenses and will also at some point be picking up a lens which will work well for low light (ie Disney photos). Any recommendations for any of these?

Would like to hear from some of those who posted earlier in the thread - how is it going for you? Would like to see some of your pictures.

Thanks for all the help today!

Thanks, Andy. Took me long enough, eh? :rolleyes1

I'm glad I took my time, though. I wanted to make sure it was the right choice.

Can't believe I'll be back on the learning curve again after just riding out the last one with my S3. :coffee:

Thanks, Scott. Your trip pictures were influential - we also stayed at POR resort recently and many of my pictures seem very dark compared to yours. I really didn't want to buy a new camera just before the trip so that was fine, but I would like to be fully functional before the next one. We can learn together!

The ice storm we had yesterday left a beautiful coating on our ornamental grass in the yard, so I tried to capture it as best I could. The grass looked as if it was made of fine crystal. Except for some cropping on two of them, these are taken right off the camera, an E-500.

I guess I'd call this one, "Fire and Ice". Stuck one of my Valentine's Day flowers into the middle of the grass for an artsy-fartsy look (though more fartsy than artsy--LOL)

Congrats Pea-N-Me!!! You will love having a SLR, i have the E-500 though, but my friend has the E-510. I got the Olympus 1GB xD-Picture Card (1GBXD) at Circuit City... and when i went to Boston and NY this past summer, i had over 1000 pictures on it with room for more!! And as far as a bag for it, i just got a new one... i got a backpack one from Wolf Camera. I have my camera with 1 lens on it in there... it has room for my other lens, my charger for the battery and the 2 lens shades. It was $54.99... but i wanted something that would be easy to carry around WDW... and not have it sliding off my shoulder, especially since i don't have a child in a stroller anymore to throw it in. :woohoo:

Got a phone call from the retailer I ordered from yesterday harrassing me to buy additional products. :sad2: They couldn't have cared less that I cancelled. So much for saving 15 bucks.

So I had to start all over again. Have had really great service from Amazon many times so I ordered from them. Just as well because there really were a few other things I wanted to get and I'd rather give them my business than these other jamokes.

Bummer. Live and learn. :badpc:

that is terrible.
but hey you did order again. that is good.

Sorry to hear about that company! Sad that even though you spent X amount with them.. they are bothering you to buy more, thats sad! :guilty: Glad you were able to get it on Amazon though. Congrats! :cheer2:

Very nice oogieboogieman! I hope we see lots more! (ETA do you have both the Olympus and the Sony? Which Oly do you have?)

My camera should be here soon. I've already gotten some accessories in the mail (wireless remote, Extreme CF card, extra batteries), but not the camera itself yet. I'm going to get my camera bag this afternoon.

I'm getting kind of nervous about whether I'll know what the heck I'm doing. Can't wait to take it out, though!

Hi! I am oogieboogieman's DW. :) Yes, he has both cameras now. He won the Sony in a contest at work. Luckily we didn't buy a ton of accessories for the Olympus (it is a 410), because I think he is going to prefer the Sony.:rolleyes1 He bought an extra battery for the Olympus just before we went to WDW in December but it was the wrong size. He returned it, but they didn't have the right one in stock so he just recharged the one battery every night. It was a short trip so that wasn't so bad.

Best Buy is supposed to have a flash in transit from another location for his Sony, so we'll see if that really happens. It is on clearance, but only at certain locations. Other than that he doesn't have any accessories for it, either.

I hope your camera arrives soon so you can start getting used to it! Can't wait to see some pics!

OK, sure, I remember. I knew your husband was on this thread and I knew he just won the Sony - I just didn't put it all together here. :duck: Maybe he could sell the Olympus on Craigslist? It's a nice camera.

here are some more shots from around POR and POFQ.

I think he will keep both. He might even bring both when we go back to WDW this summer. The Olympus came in a kit with 2 lenses, and the Sony only has one. Although DH has been quick to point out that he might be able to find an older Minolta lens for it. I was opposed to purchasing a dSLR to begin with, but now that DH has 2 for the price of one I am happy for him to have 2 cameras. :rotfl:

Great pea n me! i can't wait to see pics!
