Just thought i'd start an Olympics thread. Anyone watching the opening....very impressive!!!

I am a massive wuss and have been blubbering away. DH just laughs at me :confused3

I love the drums and the scroll work at the moment :thumbsup2

This is my first reply to posts I have been watching this too. I was really impressed.
DH (epcots1stfave) is at work at present and I feel it is one of my wifely duties :rotfl2: to keep informed on world news and such and it is a real hardship to have to sit in front of the tv with a cup of coffee and watch all the pretty costumes, fireworks etc .:happytv:

DD me and the twins are watching.
We are on the bit with the flag parade, where is team GB at the back? ha ha ha
X

It doesn't half go on and on though doesn't it. 204 countries, we should get an award for watching it all.

The scroll work thing near the start was very impressive.

OOOOO, just spotted Roger Federer getting ready to carry the Swiss flag. He's fantastic. I like Nadal too, great tennis player but I always favour Federer in the end.

watching the teams going around
missed the brginning

Love it and planning on watching as much of the olympics as possible

I know this isn't very optomistic, but i just can't help wonder what the UK olympic organisers are now thinking, considering there already abit over-budget!

well so far so good, loved the opening ceremony! And team GB looked well turned out :thumbsup2 hope we got some medals

I watched a little bit of it and what I saw was very impressive! :thumbsup2 I too wonder what we will churn out in 2012! :lmao:

Just been watching the glittery Olympic logo being raised into the sky, and it struck me that it looked like Mickey and Minnie with their heads together. How sad am I?!

Sara. :)

I loved the opening ceremony :) Wow how will we top that! Looking forward to seeing more of the games.

Glad I wasn't the only one thinking that!! :rotfl2:

Very impressive opening ceremony! Loved the pipe band! :)

When I hear pipe bands I get really emotional, always have done and when I heard the pipe band I was really blubbering.

I come from Dundee and was surprised to find out that this band were from the Mains of Fintry pipe band in Dundee and I was even more surprised to find out my cousins daughter is there in the band in Beijing!!

They all had to sign contracts for secrecy because the Chinese government wanted it kept top secret.

:goodvibes Been watching the opening ceremony - good old sky plus!!

Makes me wonder though - how are we going to top that!

Only LA in 1984 made a profit recently from the Olympics, so I'm not worried about the budget, there is a still a couple more years to get more sponsorship:thumbsup2

I was impressed with the Beijing Opening ceremony, I also love the design of the main stadium especially with the plasma screen going round most of it.

I will watch most of it & can't wait until it is handed over to London in 15 days time:thumbsup2

I must confess I dont really follow the olympics and I didnt watch the opening ceromany. However I do get a warm glowy feeling inside when I hear on the news about medals we have won. Lets hope this year is a good year for us :thumbsup2

Just having an afternoon off - feet up with the DIS and the Olympics LOL!!!!

Well done Team GB on a fab week winning the medals & more to come tomorrow. I'm going to France tomorrow so I miss all the decent action:lmao:

Hopefully it will be a golden weekend for the Brits:goodvibes
