In either case, you're going to "coulda, shoulda, woulda," for a long while. But I think the consolation of having something to go home with is probably better in the long term. It's probably easier to make peace with the silver than fourth.
You can at least say, "Hey, the person above me just did xyz a little better than me, so they deserved it." (Well, unless you're an ice dance team who gets screwed by a corrupt judge.) But you can look at your silver and say, "Hey, I earned this." Fourth is just a lot of thinking about what might have been with nothing to show for anything.
