Hey everyone. My son is in training and this would be the first time I have ever had to think about this, but is there an Olympic size pool to do laps anywhere in WDW? I checked ESPN and it doesn't seem like they even have a pool. I googled the question and couldn't find the answer.

Thanks

Cheryl

No there is no 50 meter pool on disney property. Being a former competitive swimmer myself what I used to do is call colleges in the area I was going to and see if I could use pool or even train with team.

When I was in high school and we went to WDW for Thanksgiving we stayed at the S and D specifically bc I could use their 25 meter pool for workouts. It's really the only hotel where that kind of swimming is possible, and from what I remember (although it was like 20 years ago!) it wasn't crowded at all. You could also try calling local clubs to see if working out with them is a possibility. Just go to USA swimming's website to find local clubs.

Great, thanks for the replies. We are driving down so will have a car. I looked at the pool on-line for the S and D. He is used to 25 meters so we should be ok, but I will check out the aquatic-center.

If the pool I am thinking off is the one mentioned by pp it is 50 meter aka long course aka Olympic. I believe they also have short course yards in the diving well. It's much more convenient to stay at S&D and not mess with the "chlorine commute."

If you want to stay on property, POP's bowling pin pool is actually quite long, closer to Olympic length, but does not contain lane lines. It is also usually empty in the morning so laps wouldn't be a problem. The only "Disney" resort I know that has a specified lap pool (w/ lane lines) is at CSR right outside their health club, but it is rather short (20 meters?). Not sure of the its exact length, but you could call the front desk to find out (if someone here doesn't know).

Thanks. We are staying at OKW and they do have 2 quiet pools that are ok, just not very long. I will see if we can pool hop over to the POP. We will have our car and I don't mind driving him. He will be training in the morning hours before the sun is up, so I will call around.

The pool at Pop is for Pop guests only.

If they are a DVC member staying on points (they said they are staying at OKW), they can pool hop to POP.

You must present your Magic Band or current Key to the World card with your "DVC Member" designation on it to use the other select Resort hotel pools. Pool hopping is not available at Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Uzima Pool and Samawati Springs Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, the leisure pool at Disney's Beach Club Villas, the Lava Pool and leisure pool at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and the pools at Disney's Art of Animation Resort. There are no exceptions to this policy.

They are staying at OKW so they may be using their DVC membership, if they are they would be allowed to use the POP pool.

Years ago, when two of my sons were competitive swimmers, we stayed at Swan and the pool worked out great for them. I called ahead and asked if they had a pace clock we could use and they said yes. You would not believe the size of that clock - it was HUGE. My boys were like, "ummm Mom... this is totally embarrassing to us..... omg...."

Soooooo funny........... let me know if they still have the ginormous pace clock when you return!!!

LOL, that is funny!!! I will let you know about the clock, and because I am a scrapbooker, you better believe there will be photos!!!

Thanks for the pic of CSR, we will have to check it out.

As a former serious swimmer, the only pool I would even consider hopping to for a worthwhile workout would be the one at the S/D. It's really hard to do a legit workout without lanes and lane lines. I would look into the S/D. Much closer than traveling off property to a Y :-) Good luck!
