Olympic Eating With Team GB ** COMPLETED - WDW & DCL**

And here we go again .....

another great review, Linda. :thumbsup2

Hm, Wolfgang Puck's Express .... never heard of it :rotfl2: ...... seriously - I am glad you enjoyed breakfast at my favourite eatery! :goodvibes
I tried the French Toast a few years ago and while it was super good, I could not finish it!
Hm, now I am undecided again. I read a few mediocre reviews of Babycakes, but now after reading yours - I just love everything "lemon". Well, it can't hurt giving it a try, can it. ;)

Oh, and btw, do we get that promised extra - the cruise food review?

Karin, I am sure there is a table dedicated to you at WPE :rotfl:
I thought that the babycakes cupcake was superb, much lighter and fresher that the marble cupcake from Starring Rolls
They are much, much smaller than the usual Disney cupcakes and no where near as sweet so keep that in mind :goodvibes

Great update. I am :rotfl: at your hubby's 3 'sides'. I do hope he just combined the three onto one plate and ate them, rather than keeping them separate.

I hate to be contrary but I really didn't like the cornflake french toast. Got to say that mine was far more done than yours seemed to be so maybe at was it. The flavour was great but it was so hard to eat, it hurt my mouth. D, DS and I actually shared it so we only had one piece each but it was more than enough. I was really diappointed because I wanted so badly to love it and I had waited so long to try it. I'm glad you enjoyed it though :thumbsup2

Count me in with Karin as another one who is on the fence about Babycakes. The cupcakes look really dry and uninspiring, however, if our resident cupcake scientist thinks it was OK, then who am I to disagree ;)

That's right, make me look like a glutton - you shared your French Toast with three people and it was 'still more than enough' ...... I ate the lot :lmao:

Love the box of chocolate with the monorail. :thumbsup2

I wish we could have carried some home to the UK with us but I thought they would melt, isn't the box cool :thumbsup2

Linda, I'm so excited to see another WPE review - and for my favorite meal too!!! :woohoo::woohoo: I've read so much about the french toast but I don't recall seeing a photo so thanks for satisfying my curiosity. I seriously need a 3 week trip to WDW to cram in all of the delicious food I want to try.

How awesome that you run in the mornings while on holiday even. That's one thing I don't faithfully do while on vacation. :rolleyes1

Please, please share your cruise food reviews as well. I know others have and I think it is a real treat to get the contrast between the land/sea based dining experiences.

There is just never enough time to fit all the yummy food in is there :confused3
We didn't get to have dinner or lunch at WPE this time round and I love the pizza there :cloud9:
I actually love running at WDW, it's such a great start to the day and Saratoga Springs was the perfect location ..... and hey, you've seen how much I eat right? ..... I have no choice :rotfl:

Ok, after reading all of Karin's reviews and now yours, we really need to get to WPE for breakfast this trip! And I know we will be trying that french toast if we do!

Glad you enjoyed babycakes ... DS and I were very disappointed with our treats last year & vowed not to return. Maybe we'll reconsider ...

And yes, please share your Cruise food with us!

I must admit I have seen mixed reviews of Babycakes but if you want just a small treat rather than the huge Disney cupcakes I think it's worth a visit

It's also really great that this is available as an option for vegans or guests with gluten allergies :thumbsup2

I just went back to my October photos and checked, for comparison and I was correct.

As you can see, mine was definitely more overdone. On that basis, and since I enjoyed the taste of the toast, just not the texture, I might give WPE another try for breakfast.

Well, get you Miss Marple :lmao:
You should try the breakfast pizza like Karin suggests, no good for me as it's got bacon on it but it sure looks tasty :goodvibes

Yay!!! It's the elusive Crispy Cornflake French Toast, which was MIA when we were there on May 17th! Apparently the Florida cornflake shortage ended and it made its return the following week. :rotfl: I can see now that it is in fact made with bagels...something I learned from a helpful DISer after my WPE review. :) It sure does look yummy!!! Maybe I'll give it a try on my next visit to WPE. Although, it would be really hard not to get that delicious breakfast pocket again. Ahhh...the difficult choices we are forced to make! :lmao:

I didn't realise it was made with bagels, I actually thought it was a sour dough bread but now you say it, I think you are probably right
I'm sure whatever you order will be lovely :cloud9:

:scared1: Now that one is on the dark side! No wonder it was all hard and hurt your mouth.
And if you don't feel like something sweet for breakfast - try the breakfast pizza. It is out of this world good!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

I tried to get DH to order the breakfast pizza after seeing all of your reviews Karin but I couldn't convince him :rolleyes1
I know he would have loved it

So glad I found your food report :goodvibes It was a really good read and I have added EOS on my 'to do' list for December. I too love the Plaza at MK and am going to try and book it for Christmas Eve.

Thanks for sharing Linda :thumbsup2

Oh wow, the Plaza on Christmas Eve ... that'll be wonderful :cloud9:

Wow, I'm another one who has never seen a review of Mickey's Backyard Barbecue. Oh man - it looks so good! I am a huge fan of potato salad and bbq, so I'm sure I would love this meal.

I really need to go to WPE. Your french toast looks so yummy!

I could have happily just eaten the corn bread and potato salad :cloud9:

Great update Linda :thumbsup2

Thanks :goodvibes

Thanks for sharing your experience with Mickey's Backyard BBQ. It looks like something my family would love to do.

It certainly was a lot of fun :goodvibes

Thanks for your great reviews :thumbsup2 and for leaving The Fantasy in wonderful shape for our 5/19 sailing. What an absolutely gorgeous ship she is !!

Absolutely LOVING your reviews!

Thanks for reading along :goodvibes

Great reviews!!

Maybe we will make it to WPE for breakfast one day!!

Well worth a visit if you get chance :thumbsup2

Oh my that breakfast looks soooooo good!!

Oh it was, it was :cloud9:

Thanks for your great reviews :thumbsup2 and for leaving The Fantasy in wonderful shape for our 5/19 sailing. What an absolutely gorgeous ship she is !!

You must have spotted me, I was they one crying and begging them to let me stay on board

Paddock Grill At Saratoga Springs And An Afternoon And Evening In Epcot

After our wonderful morning at DTD we spent some time relaxing at SSR and packed a few bits and pieces ready for our flight home tomorrow :sad2:

DH had been raving about the Chicken Sandwich he had eaten early in the week and was desperate to get another one before we left the resort, so we headed to the Paddock Grill Bar for lunch

As before, you place your order and are handed a buzzer.

There is a nice shaded seating area next to the pool so we topped up our mugs and relaxed for a while whilst we waited for our food

Chicken Sandwich

This looks a bit odd in the photo, I think that’s a slice of cheese on top of the chicken; I must work on my photographic composition

He loved this just as much as last time

And for me ......

Roasted Vegetable Sandwich - with assorted roasted vegetables, sun-dried tomato pesto and goat cheese

This was a really good sandwich, there was a great assortment of vegetables and the goat cheese was wonderfully cream. The pesto just finished everything off nicely :thumbsup2

I didn’t think the fries were particularly good so I left those

I thought they were a little soggy, but DH said that his were fine

The rest of the afternoon was spent lazing around and finishing our packing before heading over to Epcot for the rest of the day

I think we must have arrived at Epcot around 4pm and this little fella was waiting to say ‘hi’

"Excuse me, can you tell me the way to La Cava Del Tequilla"

We headed straight to World Showcase and this time started our tour going anti-clockwise

Isn’t wandering around World Showcase just the greatest thing to do?

I can’t tell you how much I love just strolling around the various countries and exploring all they have to offer, it just never gets old :cloud9:

Right, let’s get that 'list' back out

France - Grand Marnier Slushie

I had the pleasure of my first Grey Goose Citron Slushie on our last trip and let me tell you it took a lot of will power not to just order the same thing again but hey, you’ve gotta mix it up a bit haven’t you :confused3

This was a very enjoyable adult beverage, sweet and fruity but in my opinion not quite up to the high standards of it’s citron cousin

So what do you do after you’ve had a naughty adult drink on vacation?

That’s right, you go and get a tattoo!!

What happens in Morocco stays in Morocco

DH needed a sit down after watching me being so brave so he got an ice cold coke and we rested our feet in Italy whilst I enjoyed this

Italy - Prosecco

Relaxed and ready to tackle the rest of the ‘World’ we explored Germany and DH couldn’t resist getting one of these:

Chocolate Covered Strawberry - Karamel Kuche

Finally we arrived in my favorite country and our destination for dinner this evening ....... Mexico

Pre-dinner drinks were enjoyed at La Cava Del Tequila :thumbsup2

Yet another Coke for DH, boy he can pack ‘em away :lmao:

And for me

ab1ee1c2.jpg

Pineapple*Margarita
100% Agave Tequila Reposado, ginger liqueur, caramelized pineapple nectar, fresh lime juice and agave nectar, served on the rocks

If I’m honest probably a tad on the sweet side for my taste but it was such fun sitting at the bar chatting to the staff that it really didn’t matter

If you’ve never visited La Cava, you really should check it out. The bar tenders are wonderful and more that happy to mix a drink specifically for your taste so don’t be afraid to ask

Oops, with the exception of a chocolate dipped strawberry (which I didn't eat) this in a totally 'liquid' Epcot review :rolleyes1

Better get eating!!

Next Up - Dinner At La Hacienda De San Angel

Mmh, liquid lunch! :goodvibes

Both the sandwiches look very yummy - I made a note of that, since we stay right next door.
And ALL your "liquid food" looks VERY inviting to me ...... :rolleyes1

Linda, sorry if I missed it earlier ... are you going to be posting a TR for your cruise? I'd love to read it - Jay and I are booked for the Fantasy in October and would like to get an adults only perspective and I know yours will be good!

Thanks!

Which sailing are you going to be on? I'll be on the 10/6 and would love to say hi!

Jill in CO

You CANNOT be serious - getting ready to leave already?! How am I supposed to plan my drinking schedule, sorry, our ADRs?

Hmm, I've looked at the cornflake thing from all angles, but, its not going to knock the breafast pocket with breakfast potatoes off my top spot at WPE.

Do the Babycakes cupcakes need to get to room temp before you can tuck in

I try and eat vegan as much as I can, so this looks wonderful to me! I wasn't aware they had lemon cupcakes, though I know their selection varies, so maybe they haven't had the lemon when I've been there. Their cupcake tops are really good too, less cake, more frosting! :goodvibes

Hey Lady! Stay away from my fella Stitch!!;)

Really want to try La Cava this year - don't know what I would try though!

I LOVE the tattoo! I'm seriously thinking of getting one myself - so pretty! :)

Let's brush over the food and get right to those adult drinkies...

I've never tried the Grand Marnier slush since I haven't been able to bring myself to stray from the loveliness that is the Grey Goose Citron. Luckily for me, you have now made that sacrifice and I can live happily knowing I am making the right choice each time and will continue to enjoy my citron slushie goodness :thumbsup2

I really like the sound of La Cava but since it's all about the tequila and, as you know, me and tequila have a history... :rolleyes1 If you ask me, what Epcot really needs is a good martini bar.

Oh, and may I just add, how incredibly responsible it was of you to make sure you soaked up all that alcohol with that substantial chocolate covered strawberry

Love the reviews - as usual....

Looking forward to your La Hacienda review. :thumbsup2
