It seems that Walt Disney World will be celebrating their 40th Anniversary by having an event featuring the Haunted Mansion. The event is called "Room for 1 More."

As you may know, I am collecting the WDW Olszewski miniatures so the highlight of the news for me was the release of this:

I'm so excited!!!! :yay:

This event isn't just about Bob's WDW HM (which I have been bugging him about for years!) but includes other artists as well:

It's a one day event; actually even less than that, but I signed up for a ticket since I am local. I will probably wait about a month afterwards to pick up bob's piece, since the price has gone up since I bought the DL one... ;)

I've been asking for the Haunted Mansion piece as well. The other piece I've asked for is the Crystal Palace.

I am drooling over that HM miniature! I wish I had the extra cash for that beauty. I would buy every Olszewski piece if I could. They are all amazing.

I am going to try to order the Jim Shore Organist piece, though. I have the hitchhiking ghosts sculpture from my visit last year and it is beautiful. The Organist looks so cool.

I saw Bob last year when he was signing at AOD at DTD (I want to say it was Nov 6, but I had just got back from 2 weeks abroad). There was the WDW HM sample and I was thrilled! Bob and I mostly discussed my trip to DLP and he was instested in their castle. I sent him a bunch of photos I took, so maybe sometime in the future there will be a DLP castle in the works.

I am also waiting for #4 & #5 of the MSEP. I believe #4 was realeased at DL over the weekend. Having an A/C crisis (i think it's fixed now) so I have been off line.

I like the Jim Shore organist (I have several of his pieces, including the HHG), but I have 2 other versions of the organists, so I might pass on this one. I do like the one pin set that's in a suitcase type presentation.

The Disneyland Paris Castle would also be amazing. Another one I'd like would be the Matterhorn from Disneyland.

Got my invites in the email today...!

I'm psyched! :hmghost:

yep, I got mine yesterday too. Just printed out the RSP list to go over. I have a room booked for the night in case I have an early shift the next morning. Cedric will get boarded at Best Friends if I need to spend the night and get another groom (at 20% off, I can't pass it up!)

The Room for 1 More event page was recently updated and also shows the image and information for the Olszewski Magic Kingdom sign.

What do you all think? Personally, I would have preferred the WDW sign founf on the property edges, rather than the MK toll booth signs.

I purchased my WDW Haunted Mansion on Saturday at the Magic Kingdom and it is of course amazing, and it was wonderful to meet Mr Olszewski again.

He did have the prototype for a future piece ... WDW's Pirates of the Caribbean. Personally, I was underwhelmed.

This might be the first piece I skip. Your thoughts?

The prototype pieces are always hard to go by. The WDW HM whiteware model that they brought on his visit in Nov 2010 didn't impress me much, but I was still getting the piece (note they only brought the building, not the entire piece). I have to say when I took out the WDW HM earlier this week to put on my display shelf, I noticed that it is smaller than the DL HM ~ yet cost more money! :) The detail work on the rooms are great, even better than the DL HM.

The other pieces of his that I have are smaller: #1,2,& 3 of MSEP; MK Toll Booth sign, DL sign, and the monorail. The last 2 come with cast exclusive plates (the gold tone plates that come with the piece) and I did get the HM and MK Toll Booth at the event, and they come with the event plates (HM has Room for One More and toll Booth says premier edition). I also bought the DL HM paper clip box at the event and he signed it "Best Regards" and his entire name (he usually only signs his last name on pieces). As it turns out, of the 3 pieces I bought at the event, 2 were already signed. If I had known that, I would have brought my 3 MSEP pieces, along with the 1 stretching room pocket pal that still needs to be signed! The signing lines at the event were short. Here's a photo of Bob that day (Sept 30):
