I've heard a rumor that there are going to be major changes at Olivia's.... changes such as Olivia's CLOSING!! Has anyone heard anything about this? I know we would be really upset were it to go.

Any insight appreciated!

Doubtful, since the only other alternative at OKW is Good's to Go. Unless it closes temporarily for a major rehab. The kitchen was closed once before for a major rehab, they brought in buffet foods from other locations.

I haven't heard anything like this, but I wonder if they're thinking of making it more like Artist Pallette at SSR. Right now, the only Fast Food option there is Goods to Go, and that's very limited. I wonder if they figured more people would like more take out and fast food choices.

We ate there once about 5 years ago and enjoyed it. But if we eat at OKW any more we eat in the condo.

We probably WOULD use Olivias some if they DELIVERED!!

I would love that too!!! one of the problems I have with OKW (especially with latest fees) is no room service.

but I try to eat at Olivia at least once during my trips.

besides it is great for those last minute dinning plans.

Paul, where did this rumor come from?

That would be terrible if it closed. I also love my room service and miss it at OKW. My favorite room service is at BCV. Love those crab cakes and Filet/steak from Flying Fish.

Thanks for the rumor.

Now that wouldn't be nice. I just love getting breakfast at Olivia's and sitting outside in the outside dining area early in the morning when it's a bit crisp and cool.

The rumor came from a buddy that just came back. He got it from the Oliva staff! They know him pretty well since he is there a half a dozen times year.

Say it ain't so!! I love Olivia's and it is always our first stop once we get to OKW! I was upset when they changed from Douwe Egberts to Nestle coffee about 4-5 years ago. That Douwe Egberts coffee was THE BEST! And they left a whole carafe of it at the table...bless them. I wouldn't leave the table until I consumed every bit of it. :hyper:  :bounce:
I have heard that Disney's new CEO decided to make all of the WDW restaurants and menus more similar to each other. It's a cost saving measure. Hands off my Olivias though! :furious:

I have not heard anything and surely Doc would hear something, but "if" and that is a big if, they did anything my guess would also be that the location would become a more extensive Counter Service.

Does it stay busy, the times I have been in there it is never busy.

I do think that OKW (and BWV for that matter) need a better counter service area where you can fill your own mug and get a quick lunch. I can easily see how Olivia's could be transformed into just that. I wouldn't be devastated. Since the menu changes at Olivia's I have yet to have a great meal there. I would much prefer it be counter service and I will just hop on a boat to DTD when it comes time for dinner.

I thought service was very poor when we visited first week of October. Tried to go for breakfast (2 of us) two times at 9:15...was told they were no longer seating, had too many reservations. Last time there were 8 to 10 tables empty inside alone, and only 2 families waiting. Left message for manager, never received even a call back. Sad that at 9 in the morning, they didn't have enough staff to take care of their own members. So I would be happy to see a change there..

Hhhmmm, that's too bad. We haven't been to OKW since '05 and I'm surprised and disappointed to read this. Well, if a change is needed then it must be done.

We were disappointed when they made the change where you could no longer order the dinners from Olivia’s as takeout (from Goods to Go or the bar next door, can’t remember). On our first stay there, we did this 2 of our 5 nights. The food was wonderful, better than any take out should be expected to be. The next time we visited, we were told they no longer provided that service. I have worked in the restaurant business while in college and I understand how difficult it is for a busy restaurant to fill to go orders, so I guess this is why they made the change, but I still miss it.

Thanks about the information about and thumbs up for the BCV room service. DH and I may treat ourselves during our May trip.

Has anyone heard anything else in regard to Olivia's closing? Thinking about staying at OKW next year and Olivia's closing would make a difference.

I don't know if this means anything or not but I just made dinner reservations at Olivias for March 2, 2007. Hopefully it doesn't mean that I'll be searching for last minute reservations for that night somewhere down the line - LOL!

NO, NO, NO!!! Say it isn't so! We love Olivias and especially like that it is like a small town eatery. I love dining on the patio there!

Please say it isn't so!! I enjoy Olivia's so much. When we stay anyplace other than OKW we stop there for at least one meal. Both times that we cruised on the Magic we flew down the day before we sailed and had lunch at Olivia's before driving to the coast. :woohoo:
When we go to WDW our family tradition is to get an early flight and then eat at Olivia's as soon as we check in. Sometimes it's breakfast, sometimes it's lunch, it depends on when we get in.
And if they close or change it what happens to my Brownie Sundae? I can't live without Olivia's Brownie sundae   ! Not to mention the conch chowder.
I was also saddened by the ending of take out from Olivia's menu. It was so nice to get something from the regular menu and relax in our room (or by the pool) enjoying it. I can still taste the grilled grouper sandwich m-m-m-m-m.
I need Olivia's I really do. :scared: I hope that this is just an ugly rumor or maybe a scare tactic like "new" Coke. Somethings do not need to be 'new and improved'.
Besides when I get a hankering for something different I just mosey over to another resort to try what they have to offer. Remember, being a DVCr means not having to "Do Disney in a Day or die trying"!!!
