Two adults using the DDE discount card.
This was only our second time dining at Olivia's. Have no idea why we don't frequent more often. But I am sure we will from here on.
Keep in mind last weekend was a holiday weekend (Mother's Day).
I am sure I made someone's day last Saturday morning when I called WDW Dining and canceled my ADR for Afternoon Tea at the GF for that day.
I was wanting for a WDW restaurant for dinner, knowing it was last minute and the parks and resorts would be busy.
DH suggested Olivia's, and I was offered pretty much any time of my choosing to dine.
Upon arrival we were seated promptly, and the place was nearly empty.
We just had ice teas to drink. That's our usual.
Before our food arrived we were served some fresh, hot bread with a strong coconut flavor. mmmmmmmmmmm
I ordered the Pork Chop glazed with Myers's Dark Rum, served with mashed sweet potatoes and cooked spinach.
DH ordered the Slow-Roasted 10 oz. Prime Rib with Olivia's potatoes. He fell in LOVE with the potatoes. I RAVE about Shutter's potatoes and he said Olivia's beat the heck out of Shutters! (I don't know. We could have an Olivia's vs Shutters Potato Throw Down!
)
He enjoyed the prime rib too. And he thought the price was very good for what he got. ($20.99 before the 20% discount.) It was a chunk of meat. And he mentioned a few times how many potatoes he got. He was a happy man indeed.
And he was stuffed afterwards.
I ordered my pork chop well done and it came as I ordered. It was a good looking and a good tasting chop (on the bone). Good mashed sweet taters too. Spinach was cooked very well -- not mushy, but cooked and fresh tasting. But a little bitter. It had some onions and tomatoes in it too. Neither which I care for.
But I easily ate around them.
It was a good meal and the service was good too. I am sure we will not wait another two years to return.
Afterwards we headed to PI for some comedy. A good night indeed!
