Olivia'a owned by DVC?

It tax time and I was doing a tax return for a friend that works in Olivia'a at the Old Key West resort. Her W-2 has her employer as the "Disney Vacation Club MGT". Does anyone know if DVC owns The restaurant, and if so, how is the revenue and expenses accounted for? If not, what is the "Disney Vacation Club MGT" company all about?

Well, this is speculation, but I think the restaurant itself is Disney operated. Depending on the staff position your friend holds, they may be classified as a "resort employee" legally and their wages covered by dues.

The buildings are "owned" as part of the common area of OKW.

Chuck, Does that seem fair that dues are used to pay employees but the revenue from the restaurant is not included in Old Key West income?
By the way, my friend is a waitress.

I know when we stay at OKW the charge on the credit card comes up "Disney Vacation Club" but when we stay at BWV it comes up "Boardwalk Front Desk". I don't think member's dues are involved with Olivia's.

Remember--Disney Vacation Club was the original name of Old Key West. That is actually where the account name for the charges comes from as far as I know--the old resort name as opposed to the now larger Disney Vacation Club entity.

Here's what I'm thinking now. Disney sets up management companies at each resort to handle food services and stores to enable them to track the profitability of services/stores at each resort. Since Disney Vacation Club was the original (and legal) name of OKW, this probably would be named Old Key West Management Co today, but since the name of the resort was Disney Vacation Club originally, it is called DVC Management Co, and has nothing actually to do with DVC. This management company probaly does the accounting for servers, chefs, store employees, etc...plus pays any "rent" OKW may collect from using the location.

Actually in order to keep their "brands" seperated all CM's working for a DVC exclusive resort (Saratoga, OKW, Vero and Hilton Head), in any capacity are under this umbrella now (this offically occured about 2 months ago). While they are still Walt Disney World Cast members and they still follow the Union and have all the benifits that they always have, their CM ID's now say Disney Vacation Club, they are paid by Disney Vacation Club, MGT and from what I have heard new DVC name tags are on the way. So to answer the question, no, Olivia's is owned by WDW, but all DVC CM's have been moved into this new "umbrella" in the company.
