So whats the deal with the older Pal Mickeys you can buy at the Outlet Mall? Do they do the same thing as the new models, but just look different?
We just ordered one for the OutLet mall in Orlando, should be here in 2 weeks. The price was $33 plus shipping, probably an extra $10(my husband didnt ask when he ordered:confused3 )
How much older are the ones at the Outlet mall, anybody have a picture of one of these?
My kids wont care. I think they will have fun with it, no matter what he is wearing.;)

There are three versions of Pal Mickey. The first version was just in his red shorts if I remember right (I didn't become an addict until the 50th celebration version). The 50th celebration version is in a tuxedo. I think this is the one available at the outlet malls. The newest is the sorcerer pal mickey. When they are new, they sell for $65 + tax.

The 50th version is supposed to be louder than the original. It also has more games. My understanding is they know the attractions that were there when they were designed. So the 50th version, won't know about Expedition Everest but the Sorcerer one should. I haven't tested this myself yet. The original will know even less than the 50th. Hope this helps.

I think you will be happy with the one from the outlet if it is the 50th version. I took mine back with me to WDW in February for a 3rd trip since we purchased him last year. He always tells me something that I missed on the previous trip.

I read somewhere that you can get your Pal Mickey's software upgraded at a shop on Main Street in the MK. Hope this helps. :smickey:

And if you love Pal Mickey - you should check out: palmickey.net!

There are a whole bunch of us who dress him up when we take him to the parks (and on cruises too!)

I bought a Pal Mickey last August. Will he know what is happening this August when I go??? When I pass through the gates and hold him forward-facing, will he upgrade then???:confused3 I plan on getting the new one anyway, for my DGDs to carry in the park. Any info would be appreciated!!!

For him to know he is in the park, you need to have him on and facing forward when you enter the park. This will tell him which park he is in. My understanding is that he still won't know about new rides that were put in after he was designed. He isn't like a computer where stuff gets added as they add new rides.

I believe taking him to the store on Main Street is if you have problems and he doesn't recognize he is in the correct park when he is on and facing forward at entry to the park.

Does anyone know any specifics about this? We have the 50th celebration one from last year, and we'd love to update it if possible.

I have my Pal Mickey from my 2004 trip. He doesn't work right now even with new batteries. I was hoping he could be updated at the park.
It sounds like this isn't so.:sad1:

Generation 2 & 3 Mickeys have the ability to be updated at the locations where they are sold. It's not quite clear if it's a special update or a update that he could receive while in the park. There have been reports of the store update reviving a dead Mickey. Here is a link that has additional information.
