So couldn't someone outside the company be biased against the company?

SnackyStacky said:
Scratch biased.

It wasn't written by anybody within the company.

My whole point was biased was the wrong choice of word.

While things are painted in a negative image in the book, it's obvious the author was telling the events as best he could from a compendium of resources. The author had no positive or negative slant on the company.

If he did, the book would have taken a completely different tone.

Nothing wrong with that.

Another reason this is such a great Country, you have your opinion and I have mine and we bought get to voice them.

Yeah, but the bridge comment somewhat bordered on offensive to me.

Good grief, I hope you are not serious.

Well, tone is not easy to read online.

Your remark made it seem like I'd believe anything anyone told me - as though I had no ability to think for myself. So yeah, I did in fact find it offensive.

If that wasn't what you meant, then nope! I'm not serious. I just misunderstood.

Its pretty clear the book had a negative slant towards Eisner and some others. But if you think that bias was pre-determined, its probably important to note that the author had Eisner's and the Company's cooperation in writing the book.

While its impossible to know what exactly was in the author's head at the beginning, its not a stretch at all to think that most of his slant came from what he found in doing his research. Certainly if Eisner thought it would be a "slam" piece, the company would not have cooperated. Its not like the author has a reputation for doing biased butcherings of his subjects.

Further, most of the "negativity" in the book is relayed from others, not the author's commentary.

Not to say its all absolutely true, but its about as unbiased a source as we have on most of this stuff.

But I think it's also true that a book that portrays ME in a positive light sells about 12 copies - all purchased by ME of course.

Thank you Matt for verbalizing what I wanted to say, but couldn't say properly.

That's not right!!!

I'm sure he would have shaken some of the kids at Camp Keewaydin to bump that up to at least 50 or 60 copies!
