Old Windows - Where to find replacement hardware?

We have a 1960's house with the crank out style windows. Two of the windows have had the metal latches break when closing them. The windows are in very good condition and we do not want to replacement them yet.

I have looked all over the internet to try and find replacement parts. If anyone knows of a place to buy parts I would love to hear about it! Thanks

I glanced at your title and I am quite tired.

I thought it said old widows - where to find replacement husband.

Try the manufacture's website--open the window and look inside the frame and the name should be there somewhere-you might have to look in several windows as sometimes they are stickers and they fall out.

Here's another vote for Restoration Hardware.

:rotfl2: I'm glad to hear someone else has eyes that play tricks on them. My ears always have with songs.... for years I thought Michael Jackson's Billy Jean was "Billy Jean's at my door" instead of Billy Jean's not my lover"..... until the kids hear me singing out loud :)

Thanks everyone.... I have checked Restoration Hardware but they don't have the type of closing latch I need. I will try and look for the window manufacturer - that may be my best option.

it doesn't look like this is going to be easy though - I can't even find anywhere on the hardware to remove the latch to bring it in for comparison.

Your info says MN-there is a good chance that the windows are either Andersen or Marvin if that helps you start. I looked at our crank outs and it looks like you need to get something under the cover to pop it off but look on the websites for Andersen or Marvin and see if they have directions there.

Regardless of manufacturer, most window companies use Truth hardware. Try this for a start http://hardwaresource.com and click on Shutters and Windows.

Another thing to do is take a picture with a cell phone or whatever and take it to a glass/mirror store in your town. They usually have all the catalogues and are pretty good about finding the part.
