I loked first for this answerin the tickets stickey. if it's there I missed it.

we bought tickets a few years back 10 day with water parks, no expiration. we used all the park entitlements over 2 trips. ane had 10 entries to BB or TL, which never expire!
I have used 2 of mine, nebo (hubby) has used 1 of his.

this next trip or any thereafter, do we just use those at the park. I think it would be a nightmare to put those on the magic bands, and then keep transferring them every trip to a new magic band. I'm afraid they will get lost in the process somewhere down the line.
will we be able to just keep these old magic your way cards and use them at the water park gates until they are used up? thanks

No "transferring" is necessary.

Once you add the older tickets to your MyDisneyExperience file, they will remain available regardless of how
many new MagicBands you get.

Just to keep things as clear as possible-

There is no reservation info, or ticket info, or credit card info,
or FP+ info "put onto" a MagicBand.

The MagicBands just contain a unique serial number that is used
to access the information that is stored in your MyDisneyExperience computer file.

So, even if you were to lose a MagicBand, the info stays locked in your file.
Disney can just set up a new band (different serial number)
to access the info in your MDE file.
Disney can also issue ADDITIONAL MB's to a guest and each
additional band can be used for the same purposes as the first band.
So, yes, there can be multiple MB's per person, and each fo them can be used by that person.

The MagicBand works like the combination to a locked safe, or a key to a locked door.

Why does this distinction matter?
Because there is so much fear about losing bands and,
in turn, losing all of a guest's information thought to be on the band.

The MB, itself, is not the file of info or the container of the info.
The MB just unlocks the file of info, allowing it to be accessed when needed.

Otherwise, you cannot use the old tickets "as-is."

You can take them to any ticket booth or Guest Relations and have them converted (no charge) to
the new RFID tickets that CAN be used to enter a gate even if you do or don't have a MagicBand.

so, if I brnig my old tickets with the 8 water park credits on them,(no park days left) they will not work at the gate at TL or BB?

I have to put the tickets into MyDisney Experience to use them?

They will put them onto an RFID card for you, and then you can link that to your my magic account, and then use either the cards or you can use them on the band. Doesn't matter which, and you can use both interchangeably. . We have several sets of old tickets associated with our accounts, and several magic bands apiece. It's really easier than it seems.

For example, on our September trip, we each had 4 day military hoppers with water park entitlements attached to our accounts. we also had two old tickets with two park days and seven waterpark entitlements apiece left on them, and our DD had an plain MYW 6 day hopper assigned to her, as well as two old tickets with two 'fun' entitlements left on them from DH and my honeymoon trip. We transferred them to her, so she could have water park admission. The night before we were planning our next days activities, I would go into the my magic app and choose which passes and bands we each wanted to use, and deactivated the rest. That way we were sure to use up our non-expiring admissions first, and then our old passes.

Sure enough, we had days and fun entitlements left over, so we used them when we went back in December, and added a couple of two day tickets apiece and MVMCP tickets. Again, I just made sure that the band was activated with the 'right' ticket before we entered the parks.

Granted, I know that seems like a lot of work, but it wasn't. If you're tech savvy it can be managed very easily. Now my parents? Absolutely not. I managed their bands for them, because otherwise they would have flipped out.

Thanks to you both. (and mscott, thank you for your service).
um what if you are NOT tech savvy?;) I will not have a computer with me and don't have a smart phone. sorry to ask all these questions.
I guess I will try to link them to my account from home, and just bring both the tickets and the bands, just in case. maybe a CM canhelp when we get there?
( I just finished doing my taxes, on paper, with forms I got from the library. tee hee.)

I think that without a smart phone or at least an iPad/laptop/tablet that it would be nearly impossible to manage your bands and passes yourself.
