Hi there,

The little boy was talking to a ball
He would bounce it and say "Come back Herman" and the ball would bounce back to him.

Where did you see this...... It stopped airing in the mid-seventies?

Regards,

David

Thanks! I didn't see it I guess for over 40 years now. Not sure why that line from that ad stuck with me. Was it the ball that bounced back that they were selling?

They were selling Colgate toothpaste. Mrs Marsh, a babysitter, was teaching the boy a trick with the ball. Then, she taught him about how fluoride protects teeth. I only know this because I was the boy. I'm 56 now and wanted to show my kids the commercial. Unfortunately, I can't find it.

Cheers,

David

I’m usually up on classic ads from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s , but I don’t recall that one at all!

Did you do any other commercial work, or was this your only..."Brush with fame?":jester:

I wouldn't call it a brush with fame. I was a working actor from 1973 thru '77 or' 78. Although I had many experiences that were unique, some would say cool, overall, I don't really think it was a good thing. I would never have put my own kids into that business. A 9 year old should be a 9 year old.

Just my 2 cents......

David

Crazy that this was answered so recently. I dropped something and said come back herman. My son questioned why I said that. I searched for the commercial and found this blog. 2012-2020 amazing.

Thanks.... If anyone comes across the as, please let me know....

Cheers and stay home!
