Old Town a good diversion?

The couple times we have been there we just walk around, never do or buy anything. But last year when we went it didn't seem so family friendly. Maybe it was just the night we were there and of course once it's dark everything usually seems a little on the scarier side.

We did Old Town twice which was one time too many. It's a good "lay low" night if that's what you need, but I wouldn't take little kids....

If you are into classic cars, there is an informal car show on Friday or Saturday nights.

Most of the shops are touristy, but there is no admission fee to the area [there are fees for the rides and the haunted hourse], so you don't lose any $$$ just by looking.

Last year we spent an hour or two walking around there on our arrival night, then headed over to a nearby Bennigans (or Ruby Tursday or some such chain place) nearby for dinner.
