OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

I'm wondering how split stays work? Am I responsible for transfering our luggage to the second resort (packing up the car) or will bell services do it for me? If I call bell services, how long should I plan on calling in advance. So much to figure out. Oh, and I couldn't get into the dr. until tomorrow at 12:45. Of course, the day has gone downhill also. LOL. Hurry up tomorrow and get here!!!!!!!!!!!!

So anyone going to be there during my short mini vacation with Princess Lily (August 7-10)?

Noooo...but we're looking forward to seeing you the following weekend (Aug 19-21). We (my partner JNpants and I) met you in the lobby 2 years ago, and you told us we should book a BC stay...and we've finally booked our first BC stay! We're spending 2 nights in a standard GV room, and then zooming across the lake to BWI, where we're meeting 2 other friends in a Deluxe-CL room over there. We absolutely adore BWI and the Inkeeper's Club.....but who knows? Maybe BC will charm us and we'll just stay there for the rest of the week.

Hmm.....:)

This is my dumbest question yet (and yes, as a mom and teacher I know there IS such a thing as a dumb question)--

Where do you check in for the BCV? It is in the BC lobby right? We are staying at BC but we were able to get my dad a studio and I want to know where to tell him to go (he needs step by step instructions)

As long as you are moving from one WDW resort to another, there should be no problem with Bell Services moving your bags. Just pack them, bring them to the lobby and be off on your merry way. We've done this moving bags from AKL to BLT and from GF to CSR and have not had any problems. Both times, we called the front desk the morning we were making the transfer, and when we got to our new resort, we notified the check-in CM that we were expecting baggage. Now last year, when we stayed at the Swan for a few nights, and then moved to The Boardwalk, we had to pack and schlep our own luggage over. And I use the word schlep, because we didn't have a car, so we had to walk it over...which from Swan to BWI, isn't far, but it was hotter than the surface of the sun. ;)

Just posted another update! This one is the dreaded sunstroke day. Also had my first BC complaint... Not enough to sway my allegiance!!! :lmao:

Thanks Scott MC, sounds easy enough! I'm guessing if I check out at BC first thing in the morning I don't have to immediately go to our next resort? I never thought I'd do a split stay. I suppose never say never! Thanks Again!

I just wanted to share a little tid-bit of info I learned talking to some of the fabulous cast members at the Beach Club IPO office!

As you know, I had asked a few days ago about letting IPO do your ADRs and I am very hesitant to let go of my bookings. I decided to take a chance and will let everyone know how I make out (tomorrow is our 180 mark) and called in today to add the Chef's Table at Victoria & Alberts to our requests and was told that the IPO gets a jump start on booking ADRs. They get to start at 5:30 as opposed to the public getting a 6AM start online and 7AM phone booking.

I was extremely excited about that and felt more confident about them getting all our ADRs. I'll report back tomorrow once I hear from them how I made out!!

Great to hear...I've had good luck with them so far on my two trips.

And booking Chef's Table? I can't wait to hear about that!

You can mention it around me all you want:banana::banana::banana:
My husband isn't going, so I really don't spend much time talking about it around him. Only 16 more days!!!!!:yay:

Thanks! I can not wait and it is killing me. I keep playing around with ADR' because I just have to keep myself busy. So far we have booked dinners at Kona Cafe, Yachtsmans, Ca Grill, and Via Napoli. We ( and by we I mean me) also want to try Captain's Grill for breakfast and of course Beaches and Cream for at least 2 lunches.

What do you have planned for ADR's?

We're still trying to decide what to do with our January trip next year. Our youngest wants BC and nothing else. Our middle son still wants the 6-resort split (Poly, GF, CR, BC, YC, BWI.) Our oldest wants BC with a couple nights at Poly (but would like to try CR and GF without sacrificing BC time!) Honestly, as much as I'd like to try GF and CR, a couple nights at Poly and the rest at BC sounds good to me. So disregard the January plans in my signature for now - I have no idea what we'll do, but it will definitely involve BC!

We always go in July and usually hit the parks at rope drop and then back to SAB either right after lunch or have lunch at Hurrican Hannah's. We don't go back until dinner time.

Hi Robyn!!! Just wanted to add our enthusiastic support for this plan - we do the same and love it. So sad that I'll miss yet another summer meet.

OK, I know I keep asking this question but I am OBSESSING about it and haven't quite gotten an answer. (Is gotten a word?)

We stayed at the BC in March on a quick, last minute decision. The bounce back offer in our room was great, and I believe it's the same one that's there now. We booked our August trip with our BB offer. I am dying to know what kind of offer do you think will be available in mid-late August?? Do you think it will still be the same one?? I DEFINITELY want to book another trip, the offer is great, but won't be able to go until next year, and I know the current one expires at the end of 2012.

Was anyone there last August or around then who remembers??

Thanks!
Linda

Hi Linda! Our WDW stays last year were in January, February, May and August. I remember the BB offer in August was the same as in May - 40% deluxe room only discount on select dates through the end of the year. But this year in April, the offer was 35% deluxe room only, so I'd guess that it might be the same in August.

We stayed at the Beach Club in July 2009 and July 2010. During the first visit, we found the pool a little too much on the warm side for our liking. The next year, it was much more refreshing. Unfortunately, I think the comfort/temperature level of the pool changes, even from day to day.

We're usually December - March WDW guests, but we've stayed at BC twice in the summer (2010 and 2011) and I've always been very happy with the pool temps. But I spend most months of the year feeling very cold, so very warm air and water is just fine with me! It's a bit warmer in the shallow areas, so most of the warm water is in the zero depth entry/sand bottom section of the pool.

Mickey T, too funny! Also wanted to mention how heartwarming it is to hear that you will be your son's best man. :) Hope you have a wonderful celebration and then enjoy BC!

Teena, hope you're hanging in there with your heel - those are long days on your feet. So happy to hear about your mother/daughter plans with Jeanne and Lily's visit coming up!

Lynn, sorry to hear about your postponement. Hope all goes well and that you'll enjoy your trip later this month.

This has probably been answered but... We will be checking into Beach Club, Club Level, at about 11:00 am. I know our room prob will not be ready and that is fine, but can we use the club level lounge as soon as we check in or do we have to wait until our room is ready? Can we use the pools at the resort until our room is ready? Thanks! I figure DH can hang with the kids at the pool while I jet to Epcot and get my AP and TiW card.

Yes and yes! You can use the lounge and the pools as soon as you arrive on check-in day. If our room isn't ready, we use the spacious bathroom in the club lounge to change into swimsuits - it takes a bit for all five of us to take turns in that bathroom, but it's extremely clean and very convenient.

And I LOVE the international gateway guest services at Epcot - we bought our APs and TIW there once and it's so convenient. I've never seen much of a line and they are always efficient, knowledgable and friendly!

Yes you can use all the facilities from the time you check in.
Even after you check out you can still use the lounge and pool for the rest of the day/night.

Yes you can use the club level lounge and pools. Have a great vacation!

Oops, I guess my computer is slowwww.

Hey all! As I've posted before, my DH, DS and DGD (14) will be at Beach Club for the first time July 21 through July 25, then go over to Universal for three nights. I will be staying at the hotel mostly except for going to Epcot one evening (problems with heat and walking a lot), but the others will do the four main parks. DS is heat sensitive, DH is not but is almost 73 ... so I'm making them take a four-hour break every afternoon. From looking at historical, hourly temps on weather sites, it would seem the hottest time is from about 2 to 6 pm???

What have you found to be the case? Also, on these hottest days, is the water in the pool cool enough to be refreshing in the afternoon? Thank you all; this is a WONDERFUL source of info, and you've been so helpful already.

We were at the YC two years ago in August and are heading back this August. Here's the thing with the pool. Depending on the weather, the pool can become quite warm in the late afternoon. However, if you just swim over to the deep part of the lazy river, you will find that the water temperature drops appreciably. I don't like swimming in a cold pool, but an overly warm pool is just not refreshing. It feels like you are swimming in liquid air when you cannot notice a difference in the temperature. I hope it works out for you. We loved SAB, and that is why we are headed back again this summer. It is a wonderful part of the resort.

Let me see if I can remember without checking my list....Sci Fi Diner, 50's Prime Time, Crystal Palace, Cape May, Rose & Crown, Le Cellier and Rain Forest Cafe. My husband and I ate at the Yachtsman on our honeymoon in 1998 and it was fabulous. I think we want to try Via Napoli too, but we'll see. I think we're going to eat at the Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney the day we arrive. Yummmmmm.:woohoo:

No stupid questions, just ......

Check in is BC lobby. Have fun!

Only 99 more days until we are at the Beach Club
I can not believe we are in double digits already. Time to start the countdown calendar!

Still trying to make the switch to BC- but now no standard or garden view available!! I can't imagine how I'll make it work w/ water view rates...

I'm not giving up yet, though!!

(If I can work this out- I/m SOOO changing my ticker to one of those nice Beach Club ones :thumbsup2)

Fingers crossed for you!!!

I have been reading through this thread getting pretty excited since we may be headed back to our favorite Resort come December!!!
Right now it is between the new Nemo rooms and here! Our diughter REALLY wants to stay at Nemo but DH and I are longing to be back at YC/BC.
It is actually going to depend on what kind of a discount my wonderful cousin can get us (cast member).
But ohhhhh to be back at our favorite resort.............:cool1::cool1::cool1:

I hope you can work out a stay here.

Lynn - sorry to hear about the postponement of
your trip! But now there is more time to plan:)

Dee- loving your latest TR :lmao:

Trying to be patient until the trip but I am so excited. Also trying to not mention it every waking moment around DH cause I am driving him crazy:confused3

Thanks so much!!! EMT update is up.

We'll be at YC Sept 25-27 and at BC Oct 1-2. (staying at SSR for the 4 nights in between) Can't wait to see which side we prefer :)
