OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Just back from our annual 5 days of camping at a folk festival. It rained almost the entire time!:headache:

25 days till we leave for our 6 hour stay at the Hyatt at MCO then Beach Club bright and early. DD who is 9 said today 'we got so much rain at Falcon Ridge that must mean we will have great weather for Disney' We both agreed we'd rather have rain at Disney though where we have warm dry rooms :rotfl2:

Thanks for your review Robyn! Sorry about the illness at UA  My dd had the stomach flu once at AKL. 2nd day :( Then we both got sick during a Poly stay when Poly gift shop CM started coughing all over us and not covering
Sucks being sick on vacay!

We stayed at HRH before, and I thought next time I'd try Royal. I didn't like the acoustics of the HRH halls. So loud. Esp when people are returning late at night from City Walk. Halls echo really bad, sounds like you're in a tunnel. We got no sleep.

No more solar gel :scared1: I love that stuff!! Esp when so many burn in the hot Florida sun, I wonder why they don't provide it any more?

Only the suites have it now. Write letters!

I have to tell you that as somebody who recently came face to face with my mortality there are only so many tics of the clock that we each have. All too often we decide to take a back seat and just cruise through life when we should really be in the drivers seat and putting the pedal to the metal.

My husband is one of those people that is always afraid to live for today and he always lives in fear of what might happen tomorrow. When those tomorrows were in serious danger of disappearing I decided that no longer would I defer to that kind of sensibility. I got annual passes to WDW and I fully intend to live life and make memories with my kids while I still can.

By beating cancer I got a second chance. I intend to make the best of it and I want to make as many memories as possible. I told my kids that Disney World has been around for 40 plus years. One day they will take their kids there. Hopefully I'll be there with them but if I'm not I know that they will have many stories to tell about how their Mom and Dad took them there when they were kids and tell them about all the memories they made.

Go for it Couchy! You won't regret it!

:grouphug:
Thank you for this!
I won the argument with my husband over our upcoming August trip, although we did switch from BC to off-site. (I don't care - it's still Disney and we're getting a 2 bedroom villa for $2000 less than we were going to spend at BC.) This is exactly my argument. We only have so many years with our children and we never know how long we have left on this planet. I want our children to remember all of our trips to Disney and pass that legacy onto their children.

Prayers to all who are sick or have sick family members/friends. Life is precious!

Amanda

Robyn: so sorry to hear about your niece. Absolutely LOVED seeing you again this year!

I lost my Dad in December 2010 to lung cancer. I miss him every day. Two days after his funeral I called up, booked a room and took off with my family the next day to spend New Year's Eve at Disney. A lot of people didn't understand that but I remember my adult son toasting on new Year's to the life of his grandfather as the fireworks went off behind us at Epcot and it is now a precious memory of the celebration of his life. We all deal with our own burdens in our own ways and no one has the right to question it. Live life in the way it gives you the most comfort and always hold on to the memories.

There are many people on this board that have helped me make memories of a lifetime and I thank you for it.

One week to the day for us too!!! DW and myself are both in a bit of relief as DSiL is not coming (which just makes things much much easier).

You guys are so great on this thread, that I thought I would reach out to the parents out there. I have a very tall 4 year old daughter who will ride anything from the "thrill" standpoint, but I think some of the themeing might scare her, so I am trying to figure out what rides will be ones that we should avoid. She will not be scared of the ride themselves (the faster, the spinnier, the better in her book). I have heard Dinosaur is pretty dark and scary and Tower of Terror before the drops could be rough. What other rides should I worry about?

17 days until we wake all three girls up with the news that we are leaving for the Beach Club!!

Yes, Dinosaur and Tower of Terror both have "scary" feels I would agree. Also Expedition Everest. We had the same issue with our youngest son, he would ride Thunder Mountain but wouldn't do Snow White. :lmao: That ride is gone now though so you won't have to worry. The Haunted Mansion also has some scary elements, as well as Maelstrom at Epcot. It's hard to say what is scary to one child might not bother another, but I think you're doing the right thing by researching it in advance. :thumbsup2

I totally agree.

I'm kind of a private person and don't usually share a lot of my personal life on public forums, but reading your stories is getting to me. In 2010, my husband lost his mother, two brothers and his sister ALL to cancer in just ten months. Yes, that's right, his Mom and three siblings in ten months. I buried my brother-in-law on my 40th birthday....So, what did we do? I made a phone call to Disney, booked the Beach Club for a week despite the fact that we couldn't afford it, and the four of us took off to Walt Disney World. Talk about healing. It was truly the best trip we have ever had, believe it or not, just really celebrating life and being together.

Sorry, I know that is MAJORLY depressing and I won't say anything else, but wanted to share that Disney really is a special place, for lots of reasons.

OK....let's talk about balcony views and bad mousekeeping!;)
