it's on a trial run, but now the greeter has to ask if you'd like the main dining area or a quiet area. Too many guests have complained about the noise or lack of noise and hoping this clears things up. If you don't have a preference you will be given first available.

Interesting. Now that they have a quiet option, that might tempt me to return to WCC. But first they will have to up the quality of their food choices.

I think they did it because alot of people that wanted to be in the middle of the fun would get put in the back near the fireplace.. this way its a win win for them they can get the people that want the crazyness where they want to be and bring back the people that don't want the loud crazyness and have them in the back area..

I thought the point of WCC was for the interactive dining with the waiters & other guests.

For some of us the idea is have a meal without all the antics. This will give us a choice. People that want all the commotion can have their area and the ones like me, can have a less noisey enviroment. I may eat there again. I don't like to eat at '50s Prime Time because of the shanigans, so I don't. I don't think the food is that great to make up for my dislike of the "show".

it actually was more of the people who DIDN'T want the craziness that prompted the asking.

As for the quality of the food, if you have an issue with your food please ask for the manager or the chef to do a table visit, that's what they are there for and no one can fix what they don't know about

the majority of guests coming to WDW don't do their homework on the restaurants and therefore have no knowledge of what happens. We get questions every night about where the "characters" are because it seems that some reservationists say that there ARE characters....

It's not to everyone's liking and I respect that. Servers do their very best to read the table but they don't always get it right. Management is trying to please everyone and this is what has caused the latest change.

What is not going to change is the yelling for ketchup, singing for birthdays, hokey pokey and hourly pony rides.

Hey mom2of2 - hope you're working dinner on Sept 26th. We'll see ya there - and we'll be bringing the ketchup!

look for me at the podium :)...we have lots of ketchup..can you bring some Grey Poupon??

1) Think of this as "Spin".
2) They have always had the spot behind the fireplace.
3) People didn't like it because it was away from the action.
4) Now, they are calling it "the quiet zone".

We haven't been to WCC for a couple of years, but if I recall correctly, the area behind the fireplace was roped off when were there. We go to WDW the winter months, which may be a slower time. I think more of us want away from the action, than some think.

"Quiet" being a relative term at a place like WCC---
Perhaps asking if you'd like a "less noisy" area would be a better way to put it---

Do you work breakfast too? We are eating there on sept 18th for breakfast. Can't wait!!!

I like the idea of being given a choice. We use mealtimes as a chance to relax and unwind so a quiet place would be our preference. We enjoy the food at WCC so we accept the noise and antics, but being given a quiet option would be great.

We ate at WCC in 08 and 09 and we were seated in the quiet area and it was great. In fact you can see the main room from the back room. I didn't see any children in the quiet area. We are 3 adults.

That's great! DBF absolutely loved this place last year! He wanted to eat dinner there every night for the rest of our trip. It was the only place he insisted we go back to this year. He enjoyed all the restaurants but, this was his favorite. We were seated right next to the fireplace. Quiet but, we could still enjoy all the goofiness going on in the main room. And our server was amazing!
So, on September 30th, I'll be up at your podium, requesting near the fireplace. :thumbsup2 And I'll be looking for those yummy eggrolls!

....and we GO to Whispering Canyon for the fun!

I took a friend on his birthday. We finally began to call the restaurant....."Why do they call it Whispering Canyon Cafe"?

We take every chance to laugh!

WooHoo! Bring on the FUN! DS8 made a request to return for the fun. We had a blast last time. I'm so happy that we get a choice of where to sit. It would be terrible for us to end up in the "quiet" area.

brilliant idea. being seated far from the action is my fear for this trip. I have kept the "shannanegans" a secret from my kids and husband. I cant wait to see thier faces! ROFL! :rotfl2: My teenagers are going to LOVE it. heh. Im so excited to eat here. :woohoo:
