I remember a ride from the 70s that might have been called Mission to Mars or something like that. You sat in a big auditorium that was supposed to be a spacecraft and there was a video playing on a screen in front. When you "took off" the seats sort of deflated and there was some vibrations felt. Anyone remember this?

Absolutely! It was a mission to the Moon first, then Mission to Mars, as Abbey1 says. (It became Alien Encounter and then Stitch's Great Escape in WDW.)

It was there in the late 80s. I remember thinking it was boring and my dad said it was when he was a kid too.

It was like sitting on an old washing machine! The control room was funny when I was a kid, but looking back it was kinda cool. Very 60s/70s (even in the 80s it was very outdated and out of place- never a line).

My dad worked for TWA, and I thought that rocket out front was sooooo cool. I must've ridden Mission to the Moon when we lived in L.A. because I remember that rocket out front with TWA on it. I was born a month after DL opened, but we moved out of state in 1961. We went back for a trip in 1970. Got my childhood trips mixed up. I've been there 3 times in the past few years, including the 60th anniversary. I want to go to the 75th one!

Yep! I loved it. As a 4-year-old, there was no question is my mind that we were really flying.

Ah yes, I date myself and say I remember that attraction. I also recall that Disneyland had a moon rock on display that I thought was amazing because it was a piece of the moon! But I don't remember when they had the rock on display. Anyone?
