Old PH tickets - ?? about using

JUst wondering peoples experiences with the old PH or PHP tickets. I have a few left - with various park days and plus options. We bought AP's this year so I was thinking of saving these old tickets for when relatives may join us for a day or two (or maybe my DD brings a friend along for a short trip). If someone uses an old PHP will their finger be scanned such that they become the only one who can use that ticket? I know they're officially "non tranferrable" but I always interpreted that to mean "can't sell". I know someone inquired of WDW about using them and were told that they convert them to the new tickets.

What are your experiences?

Converting to new tickets is optional, you can use the old tickets (that fit in the turnstiles) as-is if you prefer. Tickets that don't fit in the turnstiles may be exchanged at no cost for tickets that do, I don't know whether these tickets have finger scanning (are the nearest equivalent or better Magic Your Way tickets).

Currently old tickets do not have finger scanning but it is not out of the question that finger scanning could be added to them automatically in the future.

Old tickets are best use (1) for a vacation consisting of 1, 2, 3, 11, or 12 theme park days, or (2) for a vacation when the person using them has enough of them so he doesn't need to buy a new ticket. If you give a friend an old ticket for a weekend and he uses it up completely, finger scanning is irrelevant.

Depending on the age, it may not let you in to AK park.

I know the new ones specifically say that they are only valid for the 4 parks they have open now, not any additional parks that "may" be built later.

If they are really old tickets, you may want to verify they are good for all parks before you try to use them in parks that did not exist at the time the ticket was issued.

Can't find an old ticket to look at the language on them.

Actually, non-transferrable doesn't mean "don't sell", it means noone but the original ticket holder can use them.

You will have no problems with anyone using the pre-2005 tickets. These are not biometric tickets. If you have tickets that are pre 1998, take them to Guest Relations and they can upgrade them to the same tickets that will allow you into AK at no cost that will have the same amount of days left on them.

I would not use these tickets toward new MYW tics, as then they will be tied to biometrics, and also, won't be worth as much as the ticket is as it is now.

Alot of people sell these old Park Hopper tickets on ebay. Is it safe to buy them? Why do they sell for so much? Any experiences? I will be going solo next month and will be there from the 9th of May to the 12th. Should I get a new ticket, or find one on ebay?

Do not buy tickets on ebay. You have no way to know if they are valid tickets (well, technically they aren't because you can't resell them). It would be a shame to spend money and then try and get through the gates and find out it was an expired ticket or one that the days were already used up on. I just don't think you would want to take the risk. (Yes, I admit to being a big skeptic ). Good luck.
