Old or New Wedding Hearts Stamps?

Okay, this is a ridiculous question in the scheme of things, but I thought I'd ask for your input anyway.

We were planning on mailing our invitations out on June 1st (with an RSVP of August 8th). Because of September being a popular vacation month around here, and because of some location requirements, we want to send them out as early as possible.

We thought May would be too early, so we figured the first of June would be a safe bet.

Well, the postage rates went up, which means if I buy the Wedding Hearts (one is a light pink/one is a light blue) stamps that are out now, I'll have to add a one cent stamp to every envelope (not an issue; I've got PLENTY).

The new Wedding Hearts (one is sage-colored, the other, very light orange) stamps come out on June 10th.

For anyone who is curious: the stamps.

Would anyone find me completely classless if I get the older stamps and put the one-centers on?

Or should I wait ten extra days for the new stamps?

I know, I know. It's silly. But Emily Post has me shaking in my knickers over this.

Personally, I'm a very impatient person, and I just want to get it over with. But then I remind myself that it's a fall-themed wedding, and the newer colors... blah blah blah...

So I guess the question should be this: If you received a wedding invitation with an additional one-cent stamp on it, would you recoil in horror? :rotfl: Inquiring mind(s) wanna know.

I absolutely loooved that you asked this question! I am having the EXACT same problem!! I was so mad when the stamp went up again after I bought all the $ .41 Disney stamps. I knew I definitely didn't want to add the penny stamp to it. If I did, I'm sure no one will care - but it would bother me. So, I have decided to wait for the new heart stamps to come out. Or I might just order stamps from zazzle.com with my own picture on it. :thumbsup2

:surfweb:  :scared1: :faint:

Now that I have recovered from recoiling in horror I can safely say I would probably be more frightened by the sage colored heart than the one cent stamps. But that's just me. I honestly wouldn't care if I received a wedding invite with a one cent stamp on it.

And I am just like you, patience is not a virtue that I possess, so I say go with the one cent stamps and send them out!! I especially like the 1-cent Tiffany Lamp and the 3-cent Teapot.

Also, would it be a viable option to just add an additional 41 -cent wedding heart stamp to each invitation, if you really don't feel comfortable adding a one-cent stamp? It will cost a bit more money, but it may give you peace of mind.

I was disappointed to (getting Disney stamps for DDs Bat Mitzvah). We went the route of getting stamps from Zazzle. For the STD we used a generic Disney graphic from there. For the invite I used a pic from our cruise and the rsvp had her "Disney Visa" picture with her and Mickey waving, I added the text "See you real soon" to the bottom of the stamp.

I was able to find discount codes each time easily. So while they do cost a little more, I "overpaid" by $15 for 120 stamps. It is really cute and got rid of my problem of the one cent stamp.

HTH

Ooh, decisions, decisions!

I actually considered getting photo stamps, but I wasn't too thrilled at the aspect of spending more money. Plus, I'd have the overwhelming desire to get my cats on the stamps, rather than something us-related.

But I checked out zazzle, and they're cheaper than stamps.com.

I actually just built a Neechee stamp. :)

Nikki, I like your style! :D I'm all about now, now, now! And I like the Tiffany lamp stamps too. I have WAY too many of them that I'll never use. The invitations would be a great way to get them out of my house.

If I were going to go the double route (which is a great idea, by the way), I think I'd just make my own stamp.

I mean, I guess when I think about it, the heart stamps really aren't part of my theme either. I was just thinking that the orange/green stamps would go better with the chocolate/gold. But I'm one of those people who doesn't match her bra and panties, so why start now? :rotfl: :lmao:

Oops. Sorry about that.

You have definitely given me food for thought.

Were you in the picture from your cruise? I feel a little weirded out having myself on a stamp. A stamp that will more than likely have a postmark stamped on top of it.

Cats = Cute
Rob and me = Notsomuch (Not that we're hideous, but... :rotfl2: I'd rather see my cats!)

It is for DDs Bat Mitzvah, so not me in it but her and Mickey. We actually got lots of compliments.

That would make sense, wouldn't it? :lmao:

Thanks for the help. Maybe Rob and I can take some new pictures of us ... WITH the cats. We have a few older pictures, but Neechee is a wee one in them.

I think I'm at the point where I'm not going to wait until June 10th, but now it's a matter of using what the USPS has or our own.

Rob wanted us to send the Yoda stamps out, but they didn't have .59 ones. I wouldn't have minded though.

You know, those personalized stamps don't have to have a photo on them... I designed some that had the Moorish star pattern from our invitation on them, so they coordinated with the invite.

You could scan a part of your invite (or create a pattern in Photoshop/Illustrator) and upload it to Zazzle as a Jpeg. :thumbsup2

Perfect and beautiful as always, Carrie!

I think I would miss the opportunity of showing off my cats. :lmao:

I thought about a fall scene, but I decided I'd rather pay the extra money to see my children on a stamp than trees. :rotfl:

This is funny!!! I had the same problem but I finally gave in and put the 1 cent stamp on mine. I don't think most people care. And, the peace of mind of sending your invitations out sooner than later is worth it in my opinion.

Honestly, I'm not going to spend too much time looking at the stamp... I'd save the trouble and just do the 1c stamp.

Just a little reminder, have you envelopes weighed before you put your postage on them. Some invatations are heavier them a regular letter might be and some are different sizes..The post office is getting very picky about these things and you don't want to have them returned! This happened when we sent out save-the-date cards!

Already did, thanks! I was concerned that the .59 wouldn't cut it, so I checked. That's when they told me the new stamps would come out in June (but they didn't know the date). So I looked it up.

I'm a little anal and paranoid. But I guess that works out more often than not! :)

I'm glad you checked already because I agree with northeastmom!! Our friend just got married in April. She just put one stamp on each invite and got over half of them back. It was stressful because she had to resend them out and it was already very close to her RSVP date on the invite. Just be careful!!

We bought all our pretty wedding stamps last year before the postal increase. We're just going to have the post office stamp them all with the correct cost. With all the wedding stamps, our bills are sure to look nice and purdy for a few years:goodvibes

I figured they'd be 2oz, but I was really nervous I'd make the mistake of assuming and then finding out the hard way. It turns out the invitations are about 1.5oz, so even if I opted to add a little extra, I'd be okay. I don't really have anything extra to add, but... at least I know I have a little cushioning.

I did end up ordering from zazzle because Rob thought the idea of personalized stamps was great (he had an opinion!! I had to go with it! :) ). I ordered extra for thank you's and whatever else I may want.

It does seem like an unnecessary expense, but ... BENGALS! On STAMPS! I couldn't resist!

I say just add the extra 1 cent stamp or something. Since I'm the last one to get married I can tell you I have gotten OODLES of invites in the mail and not once have I ever looked at the stamps! Maybe that's just me but thought that might help a few of you out.
