Old MB2 or no MB Questions

It's been a while since our last stay on property and while I feel like things are so much more complicated than they used to be, I also think I'm overthinking it and there's an easy fix. There are 4 of us going in October, and everyone is listed under my account...DH and I have 2 MBs from 2020 but DD18 and her boyfriend don't. I doubt they will want to spend their money on MB+ for themselves, so I plan on getting all 4 of us KTTW cards when we get to the resort.
  • I understand that the MB2 battery may no longer be strong enough to automatically add ride photos. Do they still have the wall with the screens where we could tap our MB and the pic would be added to our account or will we need to have MDE set up on each phone to get all the photos?
  • Since the "kids" are under my account, do they need to be logged in to my account to get the ride photos or photos for themselves when they're not with us?
  • If they offer free dining, we'll have the QSDP. They should be able to use their cards to get food when they're not with us, correct?
  • If they don't offer free dining, am I able to set a limit for purchases for the two of them even though they're adults?
  • What all does the KTTW card do? In my mind I used to use it for everything but can't remember if our photopass was on it or not
As you can see, my main concern is them being able to eat and get their pics easily when DH or I aren't with them.

thanks! :) :)

You don't need magicband to get the ride photos.

if you have MDE app on your phone, it should automatically receive the ride photos. you can always tap your card on the way out of the attraction if you want to be safe

Frozen Ever After, Guardian of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Slinky Dog Dash, Haunted Mansion, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (I think that's all of them) don't have photo walls at the end of the ride. For those, you will need either a MB with a good battery the MDE mobile app with permission to use bluetooth.

Do they still have the wall with the screens where we could tap our MB and the pic would be added to our account or will we need to have MDE set up on each phone to get all the photos?
Not on all attractions. Many Ride photos now have a QR Code that you may scan with your smartphone. You can also make sure your phone is ready from some of the newer attractions by confirming your smartphone has Bluetooth enabled and your MDE is active (make sure that you have not prevented MDE from running in the background) not often an issue but some guests have changed the MDE default in their smartphone setting to save battery.

Since the "kids" are under my account, do they need to be logged in to my account to get the ride photos or photos for themselves when they're not with us?
Yes one of them will need to be signed into your MDE account or you might consider having DD create her own MDE account and then you can link the accounts in MDE using the Family & Friends function.

If they offer free dining, we'll have the QSDP. They should be able to use their cards to get food when they're not with us, correct?
Yes the KTTK cards work for resort access, park tickets, and LLMP and/or LLSP access or if you have your daughter create her own MDE account as mentioned above.

If they don't offer free dining, am I able to set a limit for purchases for the two of them even though they're adults?
No you can't limit purchases it is either on or off based on your resort hotel Folio account. You enable the ability to charge to each individual or not.

They could still use their smartphones for Disney Mobile Orders tied to a different credit card for example or even just use a Gift Card. Mobile Oder supports: Credit/debit cards, Disney Gift Cards, Disney Rewards Redemption Cards, Apple Pay, or Disney Dining Plan credits, all managed within the My Disney Experience app Note that GC usage is a manual step as they would need enter the GC Number for each transaction.

The "kids" as you called them could also use their existing smartphone wallet payment options to make purchases with no interaction to MDE required.
