Old Magic band and kid's fingerprint

I have been reading on reusing old magic bands and from what I see I should not have a problem with using them (they are from early 2020). I do however have a question on the fingerprint associated with the magic band: is the fingerprint used to enter the park the last time I went to WDW still associated with the Magic band? Would there be any issues now that my kids are older (will their bigger fingers cause issues)? Also my daughter was under 3 years old the last time we went and we used my fingerprint. If fingerprints are still associated with Magic Band, would I still be able to use my fingerprint for her (she will be 5)?

Just have your kids use their own fingers. If/when it doesn’t match what’s in the database, explain to the CM, and they will have your kids redo the fingerprints. It may take a little longer, and the CM will have to find a CM with an iPad, manager/hire-up. Someone should be nearby at park opening specifically for this situation. I had to do this once; I think my hands were cold, dry, and cracked.

Nothing is actually stored on the bands themselves. They just contain a link to database info in the Disney system.

Two parts to this…
The old magic and should work fine but it may not make itself known to the medium distance technologies like ride photo or personalized ride messages. Generally hey work fine for a couple years at the least.

When Disney scans a fingerprint, the key it creates is associated with an account on a backend server. In the same way, when you activate a magicband , the unique hardware code stored on the magicband is associated with that same account on a server offstage somewhere. But Disney does not link the fingerprint data to the magicband data in any meaningful sense. More likely they are kept isolated purposefully as a matter of data hygiene, but that much is just speculation. In any case, nothing in the old mb stores personal information anyway and the system is such that biometric data is refreshed with each new visit.

If these are new tickets, then it probably won’t look for a match. I have an AP, so it looks for a match, even if it’s been a year or more.

Ok, thanks for the feedback everyone! Great to hear it should work without any issues, or if anything I would just have a short delay entering the park.
Would the disney resort hotel be able to tell if Magicbands still work for all features (e.g ride photos, etc. ) or will I only find out once I enter the park?

I don’t think they can tell if the batteries have died. It will only affect the long range capability, ie touchless ride photos like 7 Dwarves Mine Train.

Only way to tell is to get a ride photo, or not. Even that isn't fool proof since some miss due to glitches. So guess should say multiple ride photos missed. That and names on signs are all long range is used for. So really not significant at all, unless you just love ride photos

Yes and no
No matter what you can't trade magic bands. Old tickets or new, Little Johnnie's Magic Band is Little Johnnie's Magic Band for life. Little Jane can't borrow it, nor can Aunt Jill or Mom.

The party only needs 1 long-range band to get the few ride photos impacted by this, so if you are concerned just get 1 new MB (maybe for you as the reward for being the planner!).

Just to confirm everyone will be reusing the MB they used before? You can't reassign a MB to another family member, the tickets won't link right. But, otherwise, not a problem. Since it's a new park ticket, they'll probably confirm a new fingerprint.

As to the active RFID being dead, most some rides have touch points after the ride to link ride photos (it just requires time to locate the photo and link).

Some OLD rides have touchpoints
They are not installing them with new rides.
And they've added new photos to old rides that didn't have them like Haunted Mansion and Pirates which have no touchpoints.

Ok, makes more sense.
Everyone will be using the magic band that they used last trip (assigned to the right person), so I am not worried about that part. It was just the fact that they are older and that I used my fingerprint for my daughter as she was too young. But from what I understand there should not be any problems - maybe slight delays to enter the parks at most. I like the idea of getting maybe one new magic band, so that way we would have the pictures if we wanted them.
