The only negative I see for you about OKW is after you stay in a 1BR or larger, you WON'T want to stay anywhere else at WDW.

It is our home resort and we love it!!

I wanted to thank you for this topic Ryanrop. My sister and I have been wondering which resort to book for next year and are considering OKW.
My sister, "the quiet planner" wanted to also know if when requesting a room at OKW does one request the building they want or does one request in more general terms, like non smoking. main floor, near Hospitality Building with a water view?
There will be 8 in our party, my 84 year old mother being the oldest and my 14 year old niece being the youngest.
What I have read so far on this posting has been of great help.
Thanks again for the subject and if anyone out there can answer my sisters question we would greatly appreciate it!

I love OKW. Every time I have rented DVC, I have rented at OKW and always had a great time. I hope some day to have the money or points to rent a grand villa.

Try to limit it to non-smoking......near HH.....top floor. You should put the most important requests on top. Here is a map for OKW below for you.............

Wow, thanks for all the great responses. Can any regular at OKW answer a question for me? I'm looking to request the following room:

We have rented a 2 bedroom villa and need the following:

1. Close to the pool
2. Close to the busses
3. Elevator access for handicap
4. Non Smoking

Can any regular at OKW answer a question for me? I'm looking to request the following room:

We have rented a 2 bedroom villa and need the following:

1. Close to the pool
2. Close to the busses
3. Elevator access for handicap
4. Non Smoking

We have been members at OKW for just over 10 years. Here is what I would suggest. Put your requests in the order of importance - most important listed first and make your requests at the time the reservation is made, if possible.
1) First floor or building with elevator for Medical Reasons. Although they are not guaranteed, they block out the rooms with medical requests before general requests. Make sure your confirmation sheet says similar to "First Floor or Elevator for Medical Reasons." If you actually need a Handicapped Accessible room, those are guaranteed.
2) Close to Hospitality House. That will also put you close to:
**the main pool (there are several pools at the resort -
I think 2 quiet pools and the Turtle Pond pool is a larger pool
with a snack bar)
**and close to the Hospitality House or Peninsular Road bus
stops (but, there are bus stops close to every area at OKW).
3) Non-smoking

I don't know if location is more important to you than non-smoking, but there are more non-smoking buildings than there are smoking buildings.
