I did it!! Thanks for all the advice! I bought points from a DVC member and now my family will be staying at Old Key West for 6 glorious days in May. I know the 1 bedroom comes with a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. Could anyone tell me any other info? Any tips? How is the bus service and the boat service to DTD? Thanks!:earsgirl:

My favorite buildings at OKW are 62-64 and 11-14. They are close to the first bus stop and the pool. :) It's so great having a w/d, I like to bring those laundry tablets because they're easy to pack. Your kitchen is fully stocked, so you really don't need anything except food. :) You're going to have a great time!!! :)

Congratulations!
I think you'll like OKW. We'll be threre from May 3 thru May 10.
The suggestion on laundry tabs is a good one--.
We found bus and boat service to be just fine.
Olivia's is right on property too, so a full service restautant is always available.

hi!!

You will absolutely positively love love love OKW!!!! We stayed in a OKW 1 bedroom in may 2001 and it was amazing!!!!! My mom is a DVC so she sent us!! IT WAS TRULY AMAZING!! It is so relaxing there especially after a long day. We are staying in Boardwalk Villas this May also we will be there 5/11 to 5/17 so right after you. Have FUN!!!

We are DVC members also and OKW is our home resort, the one bedroom units are great!! If you have a car you park right out front of your unit, there are 5 bus stops, 1 main pool and 3 smaller pools. There is a VCR in each room, some may have DVD players as they are refurbishing some of the units. Each unit has a jacuzzi tub, and a large balcony! You will love OKW!!!!!

Red alert! Dont request close to the lobby and pool. The older buildings in the resort have bathroom access only through the bedroom, not good if little ones are sleeping. ASk for a room with the second bath access through the laundry room. Ask for a room near the Peninsula bus stop. Its the first stop for busses and a very quick walk to the lobby which is the last. Soooooo if you jsut miss you bus you dont have to wait for another one, you can beat it to the lobby.

OKW is our home resort! We think it's fantastic. We spent New Years Eve 1999 there- Had good views of most of the special fireworks.
Here's a tip-- You can order ahead and have some groceries delivered to your room, prior to your arrival. If you're getting in late, it's great to have juice, milk, cereal and snacks waiting for you!

We stayed in a studio last summer and will be back this March in a 2-bedroom with my parents. The place is so nice. Quiet, lush. It's a real treat to go in the springtime when it is still cold back home! The rooms are spacious and everything is painted in pretty sherbet pastels. The details of everything are so perfect -- little white picket fences with hidden-Mickey shapes and seashells embedded in the cement walks. The quiet pools are just that -- quiet -- and heated to super-warm. The place never felt crowded or rushed, even thought we were there July 4th week. The main area is fun, with the larger pool, restaurant, and general store. We bought ice cream one night and just sat by the water. The whole area is lit up with white lights and it has lots of Disney magic! My children loved the boat ride to Downtown Disney. The driver was a sweetie as was everyone we encountered. The whole place is beautiful, tropical and relaxing. Enjoy!

BEWARE - you may like it so much that you become DVC members. That's what happened to us. :Pinkbounc

We also rented points from a DVC member in November of 2002 & stayed at OKW. We liked it so much we came home & bought a resale about 2 weeks later.

You will really enjoy OKW. It is very relaxing, very Disney, but away from the Disney hustle & bustle. Have a great trip. :p

I'll second Melsmice's warning of becoming DVC members!! :) We also rented points at OKW for this past Nov. and loved it soooooo much we too are becoming DVC members!

We really enjoyed OKW. It was very relaxing and beautiful scenery abounded. We loved our spacious and quiet villa. We really had room to spread out.

I also brought laundry tabs and being able to do laundry there was great.

Don't forget some nice bubble bath for the jacuzzi!!! OKW has a wonderfully large jacuzzi tub - 2 people can fit in no problem. For 2yo DD the tub was like a mini-waterpark. :)

Enjoy your stay!

Actually, 2 people can fit in the BWV/VWL/BCV jacuzzis.

3 can fit in an OKW jacuzzi!

(Yet another advantage to OKW ;))
