This is our first trip to OKW. We have stayed at all the other DVC resorts, and saved this one for last. When we check in Wed night, if they place us at a villa far from the Hospitality house, do they have a golf cart, or something like that to transport us to our villa? Or do we have to wait for a bus which makes the loop through OKW? We are traveling with our parents who are in late 70's and don't have a lot of stamina, and have health issues.

Bell services will transport you and your luggage to the room if you don't have transportation. Have a great trip.

For some reason folks seem to forget that OKW is a full service resort, and yes they will transport you and your luggage with bell services.

We were given a choice about whether we wanted to be taken to our villa via golf cart (a big one) or by van, so I think you will be fine. Bell services staff at OKW showed us the absolute best customer service and Disney attitude of anyone we encountered during our November trip (and all CMs were on their best behavior this time...awesome in every way!). By the way, they will also pick you up from your villa to get you to HH for Magical Express departure, if you are using that.

One of the things I like about Old key West is that you can drive to your door. So if you're driving your own car or renting, it couldn't be handier. If you don't have a car, they will take very good care of you by cart or van as other poster have mentioned. Another thing I like about Old Key West is that it is a dedicated DVC resort. By this I mean that it isn't attached to an existing hotel. So I think the bell staff is even more attentive because everyone who comes through is (pretty much) a DVC member or their guest. They are more likely to remember your name and the more you come you will recognize them and they will recognize you. Hope you enjoy Old key West and come away agreeing with my family that it is the best DVC resort!!

I also hope the CMs mention this option at check in - I think they do when they get to the point about "do you have your own car" etc.....

I remember our first stay before we were members and being totally confused about how to get to our room, and they really helped guide me through the whole thing - couldn't have been easier!

at the front desk before you go to your villa - ask for wheelchairs for your parents.

they don't have to use them....but if you are doing the parks - this thing can be a big blessing.

mother definitely use one these days.

all the buses are handicapped accessible and can take 2 wheelchairs - provided there is not one on it all ready.
