Hi everyone! Just thinking ahead to our December trip. We will be in an OKW studio. We have stayed before but usually in a one bedroom or two bedroom. Just curious, is there a balcony on all of the studios? In some of the photos it looks like there are only balconys on the dedicated studios. Also, does anyone have a map showing which units are dedicated vs lock offs?

Thanks so much!!

there are 2 queen beds in the studios, all have a balcony, and are located on the ends of the buildings. they are large in sq footage compared to other dvc studios. So guess it depends on how much stuff you travel with and what you are ok with space wise.

However, OKW studio balconies are not as large as the balconies for the one and two BRs. Although those balconies have a table where 4 people can comfortably sit and eat and converse, the studio balconies, though larger than balconies on studios at other resorts, have the 2 chairs, and small coffee-type table.

Y'all are the best! We were just curious because we were looking at photos on Touringplans of the views and the layout of the buildings and never saw any balconies. Just wanted to be sure. Thanks so much!

Actually all DVC rooms have either balconies or patios with the exception of a single studio at BRV. Also OKW is only lock-off studios - there are no dedicated studios there.

From what I've seen OKW has gotten new furniture since this picture but it shows the typical studio balcony layout.

If you get a dedicated two bedroom, the second bedroom (what might be considered the studio portion) will not have a porch. But all the studios (real, true studios) will have the small square porch.

I recently stayed in a redone studio at OKW. I really liked it.

I'm so glad to hear that! OKW was the first DVC we ever stayed in way back in 2000. Also the reason we became members in 2001, but over the years we haven't stayed there as often...mostly because of the time of the year/holidays/festivals. We are only there for two nights of our upcoming trip and then moving to WLV, but we are excited to be there again. Planning on dinner & maybe breakfast at Olivias.

Does anyone know if we're still stuck with the tedious crank and pull shade system for the door to the balcony?

You mean the Roman shades? Yes, yes, you are. If they could put in longer cords you could open and close them more quickly. But child safety rules to keep kids from choking themselves on the cords require them to be fixed and shorter.

In Nov they didn't seam as 'slow' as before. Still not fast, but I understand the safety factor. My grand kids are worth way more to me than the speed of a shade!!!

Absolutely, but you know they've come a long way with technology, many shades are now push button, automatic up and down.
