Old Key West Refurbishment question

large family vacation planned for June 2017 for 3 weeks. Me ,husband, 1son, 3 daughters 3 sons in law ( one son in law first visit )2 granddaughters 8 and 5 and baby grandson all on first visit. My sister her daughter and 2 granddaughters 9 and 5 ( first visit ). All so excited but my question is Does anyone know what refurbishment is being planned for Spring . We are hoping for a GV plus studio or even 2x2 bed villas and a studio. Will there be a lot of closures..? We can't book till jan as this is not our home resort but we absolutely love it .

This is a DVC resort. In other words a timeshare as by the nature a developer must maintain a certain number of rooms for this exact reason. They can not have a large number of rooms offline at any one given time for owners so there should be 0 concern. If you are not an owner and booking through Disney than there may be less rooms than usual. However I have not heard of them refurbishing the rooms major or minor being they were just refurbished a few years ago...

Have not heard of a timeline specifically but understand that they will close one building at a time (or maybe a couple)? so I would think you could still get a room - also, with a June 2017 stay you should be able to book in November (7 months out using non-home resort DVC points). (for example, if you wanted to arrive 6/1 then 7 months out would be 11/1 - give or take a few days).

Thank you. We are owners. Yes I knew it was November. (7 months ) I had a momentary lapse ( happening more often as the years go by ). We stayed at Boardwalk last year during a refurb and the noise from 2 floors above us was horrendous. We literally couldn't hear each other talk. They had to move several families from the area we were in...twice. So if it's building by building at OKW that may be better than floor by floor. Fingers crossed.
