Old Key West or Saratoga Springs

This would be a good question for te DVC board. But it depends on what you want in a resort- they are very different. I have not stayed personally at OKW.

OKW: rooms are larger, has a full service restaurant, just got a new slide.

SSR: 10 to 15 minute walk from most rooms to DTD. Great pool and slide with zero entry. Rooms are smaller but new.

My family loves SSR so we tend to stay there.

Depends a little on your group make up.

For more than 6 guests I would say the unit size may be a factor. The OKW units are considerably larger and therefore I would choose OKW.

For less than 6 guests the unit size may not be a factor, SSR is newer and therefore the units are likely to be in slightly better repair. If there are people wanting to play golf at the LBV golf course or use the spa facilities the closeness of these may tip the balance.

In terms of access the resorts are a match for themeparks or DTD. The only other factor that may swing your choice is that SSR is still under construction, while Disney are very good at minimising the impact of these things, it is still possible that will have an effect on your stay. OKW is a long established resort and construction will not be a factor.

On balance I would go for OKW at this time, even for a smaller group, because of the construction issues.

For a 2BR I would choose OKW. We stayed in one OCt'03 and loved it. They are bigger and the patios are bigger, too. I really like the lay out of them. The living rooms have a loveseat besides the couch and chair, and I don't think the other resorts do. We had a 2 year old with us and she had plenty of running around room. And we were at Old Turtle Pond Road, right across from the bus stop. We ate breakfast at Olivia's once while there, too, that was wonderful. And the condition of the unit we were in was great, except that water leaked out under the shower stall a little bit, but I always have a towel down to step out onto anyway.

BUT...we just bought DVC at SSR and I can't wait to stay there!

I've stayed at both resorts, although not a 2 BR at SSR. Of course, it depends on what you want in a resort. If you want spacious units, lots of vegetation, and quiet, I'd recommend OKW. If you want the convenience of being close to DTD, SSR is better. Also, the views from our balcony were of Pleasure Island with the lake in front of it, so we could watch the boats come and go. However, I wasn't too thrilled with the fireworks waking me up at midnight. And for a quick, low cost meal-hamburgers, hot dogs, and the like, Goods to Go is much better. For 2 sandwiches, 3 drinks, and one piece of cake apiece, we paid over $30 at SSR. I commented that the bread that the sandwich came on, as well as the type of cheese (brie) probably wouldn't appeal to little kids-I think I heard that there's no grill and thus no chicken fingers at SSR. So if you have young children in your party, you might prefer OKW. However, for an after dinner drink, the Turf Club is more "upscale" than Gurgling Suitcase. But we prefer Gurgling Suitcase at OKW-something about that small, folksy atmosphere.
