We are new DVC members and will be taking a family trip to WDW in May. We will be a group of 7. My husband and I have been to Disney World before but it will be his parents and sibling’s first time. His siblings are ages 21, 19, and 9.

We have booked a dedicated 2 bedroom villa near the hospitality house at Old Key West. We have the option to switch to a dedicated 2 bedroom savannah view villa at Kidani. Which would you choose and why?

I like that OKW offers boat transportation to Disney Springs, and I have read that bus rides are generally shorter than AKL due to its more central location. I like the larger living room and lighter color palette of the villas. Also, OKW will save us points.

However, his youngest sister is a big animal lover and I’m sure she would love having the animals right outside the room! I noticed that Kidani has a third bathroom in the 2 bedroom that would be beneficial given our guest count. Both pools look nice but Kidani’s appeals to me a bit more.

Thank you for your help! (:

Kidani, hands down. Extra bathroom. Great views of the animals. Better dining options. Shorter bus rides.

We aren’t fans of old key west though. We tried to like it, but every stay was noisy and the bus rides were awful :)

I’m surprised to hear that Animal Kingdom has shorter bus rides than Old Key West! Thank you for the tip. (:

i think that you answered your own question right there!

I would go with Kidani. It is simply awesome! And the bus rides are no worse than from any other resort, IMO. The only one that is noticeably longer is an extra 5 minutes or so getting to the MK.

Enjoy!

I love OKW and Kidani. I think AKV Kidani is MUCH better for a group of 7 bc of the extra full bathroom. The bus rides are much longer at OKW bc there are so many bus stops before getting out of the resort to head to the parks. At AKL/V, all of the buses, except DS, stop at Kidani first. There is a shuttle that runs continuously between Kidani and Jambo. Kidani’s pool is exceptional. Requesting Sunset Savannah will put you on the savannah with giraffes. We usually request the second floor as it puts us closest to the animals.

OKW will give you a lot more space. But Kidani will give you an extra bathroom at the entrance to the villa. OKW HHA villas won't have any elevators. So everyone will be taking the stairs unless you are booked into first floor villa.

We like them both, but book OKW more because we get more for our points. As for bus rides, Epcot is only a couple of minutes when you leave the HH at OKW. AKV will be further from MK, but closer to AK than OKW. But OKW might be closer to the rest than AKV.

We switched to Kidani this morning! Can't wait to surprise everyone with the savannah view. Thank you everyone for your help. (:
