We returned Nov 19th from a fun 6 nights at Old Key West in a one bedroom unit room 2423. It was over the bridge behind the Peninsular Rd. bus stop, close to HH. This trip was a special trip for our 8 year old grandson with just Grandpa and Grandma. The new pool slide was a big hit and DGS was in the pool at least twice a day.

The room seemed to be in good shape except for a couple things. The door latch to the balcony was loose and a little hard to lock, which we reported. The dishwasher started to leak the last nite we were there. We reported it to housekeeping as they answered the maintenance phone, so I hope the message got passed on so it could be fixed before anyone else checked in.

Everything was clean except for something sticky around the edge of the table which couldn't really be seen. I wish they would supply dish cloths as I don't think you can properly wipe the counters and tabletop with the tiny sponge that is provided. I now take a dish cloth with me, but it would be nice to have one provided.

They were starting to put up Christmas decorations around the resort. We love OKW! DH and I will be back in January.

Trips away with grandparents are so special. Glad to hear you had a great trip.

Bless you for that comment. Laid to rest my mother-in-law who died from old age and a broken heart. All her grandchildren except one was too busy to include her in their lives at all.

It sounds wonderful! We are leaving in four days for our first stay at OKW. :)

Lizziepooh,
Glad you and your DGS had a nice time at OKW. I know my 3 children always loved the time they got to spend with their grandmom in WDW.

What a very special time you had! Thanks for telling us about it.

Wow, that's awful. Coming from a very close family, I can't even imagine that. I was at a wake recently, and the minister read a story and it was basically encouraging people to call their mother at least once a month; my brother and I looked at each other and just smiled; we each talk to my mother at least once a day, if not more. We joke that she doesn't answer the phone anymore when she sees our number.
I'm sorry to hear that about your MIL; thank god she at least had one grandchild that cared.

My childrens grandmother (my MIL) went to Disneyworld once, in 1975, and even though we have invited her to go many times, always says "I was there once, I don't need to go back". It isn't always the grandkids that screw things up!

Thank you for this posting. It is very important as a parent or grandparent to enjoy our time with our families. You just never know what tomorrow may bring. I lost my grandmother at a young age of 10. But the time I had with her was so incredibly special to me. Now at 33 I still miss her terribly.

We'll be staying at OKW for the first time the week before Christmas. Thanks for the good review. Pool slide was a great help. Was worried about that. My son lives for water slides since he learned how to swim in Mickey's pools. lol Somehow my question led me to your posting. Makes me really miss my Mom since she's so far away. SO I just had to call her. Thanks.

:tinker: See, there is Magic at Disney! :tinker:
Believe !!
