We are going to stay at Old Key West for our October trip unexpectively. We have points that are expiring so I had to cancel our reservation at the Grand Floridian and booked a 1 bedroom at Old Key West. This is the resort that we really don't know much about despite being a DVC owner and had 1 dinner at Olivia's in Feb.

Can someone suggest any building or room location that will be close to the Hospitality House, non-smoking with decent view? Is there any on the top-floor with elevator access? I am not sure if all these are possible, but I would love to have elevator access due to I have 2 little ones.

Thanks a lot!!!!

Dont ask to be close to the lobby. That could get you one of the older rooms that only accesses the bath through the bedroom. If you have sleeping kids, you want the second access.

Request a room near the Peninsula bus stop. Its the first stop for pickup and a short walk to the lobby, which is the last stop. So if you just miss your bus (and hey who hasnt), you can beat it to the lobby and not have to wait for the next one.

Your best bet is to be more general in your requests than specific. If you want to be near the hospitality house, request that, as opposed to requesting a specific building. Here is a map of the resort...

Buildings 62, 63 and 64 are the only buildings at OKW with Elevators. Keep in mind that many people request to be near the hospitality house and those tend to be the hardest to get.

As stacy6552 mentioned, buldings numbered 29 and under only have one entrance to the bathroom and that is through the master bedroom. If you have people sleeping on the couch in the living room, you may want a higher numbered building. This gets access to the bathroom through the laundry room. With 2 small children this may not be an issue.

Also keep in mind that they seem to be assigning OKW rooms at check in time as opposed to pre-assigning them. So when you check in you can mention your requests again when they are finding you a room.

Good luck.

This may also help with your requests.

Enjoy!

Thanks everyone for the responses.

Doc, thanks for the info. It is great. However, based on all the information given, I would love to have building 64. How far is the walk to the Hospitality House and the main pool?

We have a cash ressie for the first 2 nights (checking in on Friday), so I hope I can get a better pick at the available rooms. Thanks again.

jaysue, thanks.

after reading more on OKW when the search function was working plus all other people's posts, I am looking forward to our stay:D

We liked building 26, it's not too far of a walk to the HH. They have 1 bedrooms on the first and second floor at the ends of the building, no one above the 2nd on the ends. It's in the 23 - 26 group with a bus stop next to 26. Our view was of a pond and a golf green (2621).

Debbie, thanks very much for the suggestion. It looks like a great building. I will put in the request and see what happens:D

BEar in mind that if you request a certain building, you will be less likely to get your request. request an area instead.
