OKW is one of the few resorts I haven't stayed at yet, so I am looking forward to it but have some questions.

Planning a trip for my MIL and nephew's birthday so we will have Nana 86, Myself and my 2 over 18 daughters, my sister in law and my nephew 15 and niece 13 - so lots of ages and interests to keep happy. 7 total, 5 adults and 2 kids.

We are cash customers (got a pretty good AP discount) so we aren't eligible for preferred buildings.

Wish list for Nana (VIP) in order of importance:
First floor - she is pretty sprite for her age but stairs are rough and she likes to take a walk 2x a day.
Pool close enough for her to walk to comfortably, she loves to swim and read by the pool. Fairly close to the main area as I think she will like the restaurants and boat to Springs. Bus stop in reasonable distance, as a group we are probably only going to a park one maybe 2 days so that's lower on the list.
As reference last year we has a first floor 2bdr at BWV by the quiet pool and it was just Perfect for her!

Wish list for niece and nephew - again close to a pool, preferably one with a slide as well as access to an arcade or the community hall and access to mug refill :) Again - with less park time than usual they will be wanting other activities on non park days.

Myself and my dd's will be happy anywhere as the treat for us is being with the family.

I know I won't get my entire wish list but it would be nice to try and narrow down potential requests if possible and yes I know its only a request :)

Opinions welcome pro's and con's on any all of the above please and thanks in advance!

eta just cross posted on the DVC board as I realized it may be a better fit there, hope that is ok.

My go to request at OKW is Peninsular Road and Near Transportation. That gets us as close as we can possibly be to the Hospitality House when we don't have a HH (preferred) villa.

Bldg 27, 28 and 29 are right across the Trumbo Canal from the main pool and Hospitality House and right next to the first bus stop for the theme parks. They are the Peninsular Road buildings. If stairs are a problem, request first floor unit.

Call to request the first floor room, and be sure the CM who takes your request notes that someone in your party is 86 and the request is due to mobility issues. Only 3 of the buildings at OKW have elevators and requests for first floor rooms are very common. While still not a guarantee you'll get first floor, a medical or mobility issue noted on the reservation will help a lot towards that end. Be aware though, that you may get an accessible villa, as a large number of those are one the first floor.

Thanks !
Yes getting an accessible room is a fear of mine - they usually don't work well for us due to the bathroom setup. I am going to call to request first floor but not for mobility reasons as we don't want accessible.

Thanks - Although this sounds ideal, we don't want the buildings where you have to access the bathroom through the master. We will have "nana" in the master and be using the sofa bed and chair for sleeping and those people will need access to a bathroom while nana may be sleeping/napping/resting.

The quiet pool near buildings 45/46 (canal view) is nice and the South Point Road bus stop is very close and very convenient for trips to HH. I found the walk to HH and the main pool to be easy from these buildings while they are somewhat secluded.

I understand this probably doesn't meet your criteria, but perhaps is something to consider?

I'm sure you've seen a resort layout map, but just in case.....

The pool slide at OKW is the fastest of all the DVC pools, lot of fun. Just some info for your niece/nephew.

Would someone be so kids as to post the preferred building numbers?- I had it saved somewhere but I can't find it now. TIA

Do you mean the Hospitality House Area buildings? That would be 11-14 and 23-26. That is a DVC booking category, not cash booking category. I wouldn't consider them preferred by any means.

Yes - thanks and as I said up thread I know I am not eligible that's why I asked.
