So I need some advice from my resort disers. We will be staying at old key west before and after our disney wedding. There will be 4 rooms in our group. Can I call to request us be near each other? Also should I try to request a certain area of the resort? We will be getting ready for the wedding there and then going to the ceremony site. I have never been to OKW so I am not sure what the resort is like or where the best place to try and get would be. If anyone can help me or point me in the right direction to get help I would appreciate it.

thanks in advance

Teresa

I would definitely call and ask the resort directly. I'm sure they will be more sensitive to your request if you explain the situation. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

Maybe not directly next to each other but in the same building? I would think that much family togetherness during wedding time might be a tad...how shall I say this...much?

Congrats on your upcoming wedding. When my daughter got married at Disney in 2007 we also stayed at OKW. Though, I had a 3 bedroom GV for us. Plenty of room for everyone. There was no problem getting in and out of the resort.

Are all your guests using your wedding discount code? We were married in Disney 3 years ago and out of our 50 guests, at least 30 stayed at POFQ. Everyone used our room block and everyone was in the same building. Now I know POFQ is alot smaller then where your guests are staying but I would imagine they would try to keep you together. If you are using your room block, try talking to your planner but I would also call the resort.

Call directly to the resort. Call 2 to 3 weeks in advance. They try to do their best. We always call in this time frame to make special arrangements. We always need a 1st floor and close to the bus stop. We have a handicapped person in our group. 99% of the time they get it correct. When you arrive, if it is not, ask to speak to the manager, they are always willing to make your stay 110% magical.

If you are booking your rooms through Disney Fairytale Weddings they will be in a "block" which is to say they will all be next to one another.

Old Key West is a DVC resort. It is on Disney Vacation Way w/ SSR.

It is close to POFQ. So Epcot is the closest theme park.

It has a boat, bus or you can walk to DD. (west side).

where is the wedding going to be?

You can have a studio - sleeps 4 has 2 queen beds, kitchennet and a balcony.

a 1, 2 or 3 bedroom - these all have a full livingroom w/dinning and full size kitchen - the master bath has a whirlpool tub and a walk in shower. master bedroom has king bed. there is a sleeper sofa (Queen) in the livingroom and lately a sleeper chair

2 bedrooms include a second shower in the second bedroom - 2 queen beds

3 bedroom has 2 bathrooms on the first floor and at least one bathroom on the second floor.

here is a map of the WDW - 17 is where OKW is located

I like south point (50's ) area.

but if you need quick access then see if they can get you near the Hospitality House (building 11-14 or 23-26) - this area has the only units with elevators (62, 63, 64).

there is a free laundry at all of the pools. only the laundry itself is free - you have to paid for detergent (so bring some) and the other stuff you use

You don't get the resort when you call. You get a call center. Add your requests to your reservation. Did you book on points or cash? Through DVC or through Disney Reservation Center? That will make a difference. If you booked on points, Hospitality House area is a booking category. If you booked through DRC, you won't get HHarea. It's only available for points stays.
