Old Key West Bus Service

We never had an excessive wait for a bus, but I couldn't stand going through parking lots to turn around and go back. Poor planning in my opinion. Where our bus stop was, it must have been one of the first because it always took 10-15 minutes once we got on to actually leave the resort and head to where we were going.

Does anyone know the path of the bus once at OKW? Is it consistent or does it vary?

Thanks

nov 09 waits were about every 20 minutes, but it depends what stop you are on the resort . We loaded at the hospitality house so pick ups were quick but unloading we were the last stop!

Like one of the pp's, we stayed at OKW Dec 4-11th. I would say the buses were about the same as all the other resorts...consistently inconsistent! We got lucky several times and had less than 10 minute waits. I believe there were 3 times when we had to wait longer than 30 minutes. Each of those times, we had (and others at the stop) called which I don't think helped at all. What was annoying was when two buses going to the same park would pull up RIGHT BEHIND EACH OTHER! And that happened over and over and over. You would think the drivers could report it and go to another park or at least hang back for 10 minutes and wait for some people going to that park before just pulling away completely empty. That's my rant.

As far as the route someone asked about, I wish I could remember the name of our stop because it was always the first one, I think we were in bldg 29. I can tell you that the Hospitality House was always the last stop before the bus would leave the resort.

Depending on your luck, the boat to DTD can be a great option, but if just miss a boat you'll wind up waiting longer to get to DTD as the boat ride itself is takes longer than the bus ride - at least that's what we were told.

we are considering staying at a different resort for this years trip, having been to port orleans riverside for the last 3 trips.

iwhat felt annoying with the buses there was that there seemed to be no set route. we were at the east depot, and the buses always either went to the french quarter or the south depot before going to the parks. i could cope with this, but on the way back from the parks, they always stopped at (at least) the south depot first (and sometimes the FQ as well) - (i understand that the east depot is always last on the "loop")

my long winded question is / are - do the buses follow the same route all of the time?

and is it (or does it seem) longer than riverside?

we never seemed to have a long wait for a bus at riverside.

thanks

I found the bus service at Old Key West  was some of the best I have had :woohoo: The bus drivers were very nice and many times I was the only one on the bus after staying late at Magic Kingdom so we had some great conversations :cool1: The bus route is consistent and is as follows returning home to Old Key West:
1. Peninsular Road
2. South Point Road
3. Old Turtle Pond Road
4. Miller's Road
5. Hospitality House
There is also an internal bus that just goes around the resort :yay: I just rented points to stay at Old Key West in April and cannot wait :cloud9:

Forgot to add that people will often get off or on the Peninsular Road bus if they are staying in the Hospitality House area :yay: It is a short, lovely walk just over the arched bridge to the Hospitality House :goodvibes
