Ok we are going to OKW for the first time. Any tips you could share would be great never stayed there. Do you need a car if so where do you park? Heard that they do not have the program where if you buy something in the park it can't be sent back to your room is this true?

Having a car is definitely a plus at OKW. However, we were there without one and had no problems.

I'd request a building close to the check-in building or at the very least, close to a bus stop (assuming you are not driving).

We were just there last month and it is a fantastic resort. Very beautiful and the rooms are so large!

We didn't have anything sent back to us at the resort, but I wouldn't know why they would not offer it like the rest of the resorts?

You can have items shipped back to the resort but you have to pick them up at the gift shop at OKW. Most resorts don't have shipping straight to the room anymore. I know CBR has a desk in their gift shop.

OKW is beautiful! We stay there all the time. Do you have a studio, or something larger?

You can park right in front of your room. A car is nice, since the resort is spread out. We drive everywhere except MK.

Actually, the one thing I'd change about our stay at OKW last summer was that I wouldn't ask to be near the main bus stop at the Hospitality House.

It was the last stop to be picked up and dropped off. It made for extremely crowded busses in the mornings and very long trips back in the evening. For the parks that had EE, the bus would be full before it ever reached the main stop and we'd have to wait for another one. We never made it to an EE park until well after opening time because of this.

I'd also ask for a ground level room. There are no elevators except for one section.

OKW is a beautiful resort. The bus transportation as fine. There is more than 1 pool. We were near the Turtle Pond area in Nov., which is a great area. Very quiet & a nice snack bar right at the pool.

If you want to drive around the resort you might want a car, however, if you are just doing the parks & will not going off-site it probably isn't necessary.

Have a great time! :D

You can indeed have souveniers shipped back to the resort and then you retrieve them at the gift shop----and as someone said earlier, I think most resorts are doing this now. I know the WL did about a year ago. You don't need a car, but if you have one it's very convenient parking right outside your door. The busses run fine--- anywhere from 10-20 min. If you are opposed to walking stairs, then request a ground floor or an elevator building (#62, 63 or 64). But if you can handle the stairs ok (we never find it a bother), I prefer an upper floor (request water view) for better views---especially if you're staying in a studio unit. Many of the ground floor studio units have alot of trees/vegetation growing around the porch and this may block any views. But upper floor rooms don't normally have this problem. It's a beautiful, relaxing resort---enjoy !

We stayed at OKW last summer. WE got a 1 bedroom villa. It was wonderful. Very quiet. We have 2 teens and they loved it too. Used the pool and took 3 trips to DTD on the boat. We did not get a car felt we did not need one. Buses were great. They will ship to the hotel for you . You can pick your items up in the gift shop. If we go back we will stay there again.

Thanks so much!! You guys are always so helpful!! We are staying in a 2 bedroom. Can't wait to go! We think we are going to get a van just for a couple of things. We have ressies for the hoop-dee-do review at 9:30 so we can get our discount. Thought that a van would be easier than trying to take 4 kids 2 of which are 2 and 1 on a crowded bus that late. We also have a couple of breakfasts we could drive to.

You will be really glad you have a car for the Hoop de Do...especially late at night. Travelling from one resort to another via buses is possible, but can get pretty long and involved and getting back to OKW from Ft Wilderness would require at least 3 different buses...yuck. We always use the buses from OKW to the parks, easy and quick, but if we are going to other resorts for meals, etc it is SOOO much easier to drive.

You will LOVE the 2 BRs at OKW...so much room, 2 bathrooms, washer and dryer. I am not one to spend a lot of time cooking while on vacation, but it is really nice to be able to have stuff handy for quick meals in the room. Eating out every meal with tots is quite a chore sometimes.

Be sure to bring cheerios or something for your little ones to feed the ducks and/or birds from the balcony...mine always loved doing that at OKW.
