I was surprised to hear John's question about the buses at OKW. I had never heard that it was thought the bus service there was sub-standard? I've stayed at OKW a few times and can honestly say I've never had a problem with the buses? I know it's a big resort, but still the buses were always good. I've always stayed in the Miller Road area if that matters. I really love OKW and I hope John tries it.

I'll be back at OKW in just 17 more days...I hope I'm not "bus jinxed" now! :rotfl:

We've never had a problem with the bus either. However, we were really close to the Hospitality House...but I could see how annoying it would be if you were placed really far away and had to rely on the bus everytime you needed to get to the main buildings.

I agree, I could see if you are in the Turtle Pond area or in Southpoint it would be a pain getting to the main building. I like Miller Road because of their quiet pool and short walk to the Hospitality House.

The bus and DVC relationship has been a somewhat hot topic over on the DVC Boards. You are surprised the the bus system at OKW is being complained about, come on over to SSR! SSR gets slammed a tremendous amount for having a poor bus system. I came back earlier this week from there. If you are familiar with the layout, I was in the Springs sections. This is the last bus stop in the resort. For this trip, I don't think I waited anymore than 10 minutes for a bus to a park. The longest I waited for a bus was about 30 minutes coming from AK back to SSR.

For this trip I found the boats to DTD to be more busy then I have ever seen in past trips. Boats were so full they had to send another over for a special pick-up for those of us waiting at the SSR dock.

Disney does a super job in regards to its transpotation system when you consider the number of people it moves in a single day. If the expectation is to have a bus waiting for you as soon as you walk out of your room, then perhaps renting a car is a better option.

I couldn't agree more with your post, especially the part I highlighted in red.

We were at SSR over Labor Day and thought the bus service was just fine. There was even a "Greeter" at one of the stops every time we were there and his sole job was to keep track of when the buses were arriving and how long a wait between them. I can honestly say that we never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus, however it sometimes felt longer just because we were anxious to get to the park of choice for the day. I wonder if this happens more times then people realize? Does anyone ever really note the EXACt time they arrive at the bus stop, or do you just start looking at you watch when you feel you have been waiting "too long"?

Now I have heard about buses at SSR being a problem, in fact I can remember reading many complaints about bus service there, I'd just never heard about that for OKW, so I was surprised to hear on the podcast it was actually in the UG book. Has something changed recently where the service at OKW has changed/gotten bad? What's the discussion over at the DVC boards?

I've never expected a bus to be ready and waiting when I walk out of our room at any of the resorts. I'm happy as long as the buses are coming in regular intervals, we always budget plenty of transporation time though.

Oh I hadn't heard anything about the buses! We are headed there in Dec. and we were given this trip as a gift from someone who is a DVC owner, so our resort wasn't a choice- but we are thrilled and excited. I am glad to hear that most people seem to think it won't be a problem, because we are relying on Disney transportation as well. I will let you guys know if it is a problem for us. The resort looks beautiful and we have a studio too- I can't wait!
