Old iPhone NOW... or New iPhone LATER?

Our current contract with AT&T is up today, so now we can get rid of our "cool" Razr's... :cool2: :rolleyes1

First of all, I have no problem with AT&T, FWIW, and would choose them again tomorrow... or today! ;)

You all talked me into the iPhone (if you remember my thread, "iPhone or Android") :thumbsup2

NOW the question is, do we go out today and get the old (or current) iPhones, or wait until () to get the NEW iPhones that are supposedly coming out (again ). I don't know a thing about the new one, what is so special about it, etc.

What I DO know is that I worry about glitches, or problems, that might come about with a "new" phone, especially since it's supposed to be 4G? Again, I don't know anything about it.

All I know is, after 2 years with this ONCE COOL Razr :sad2: I don't want another 2 years with a phone that people make fun of. (I hear, "Oh cool, you still rock the Razr!" on a daily basis. I don't want to hear, "Oh cool, you still rock the old iPhone!" in a couple months. :snooty:)

WWYD?

I would wait another month and see if the 3Gs phones come down any. Currently, there is no incentive to get a new old phone. Wait and see what the new new phone looks like and costs.

The 4G should be called the "UG-ly". Seriously. They look AWFUL. I love my 3GS and have no intention of upgrading!

It looks different? :confused3 I Google it, but everything looks phoney. Do you have an "official" link?

I hear ya on the 'cool' phones...I had a SYNC with ATT.

Anyway we jsut got our i--phone about a month ago. Currently there are 3 options

i-phone 8GB $99.99
i phone 16GB $199.99
and 32 (I think it was 299.99

We picked the middle of the road one as it had a decent amount of memory. Also had video capabilities . However you can get Apps for the 8GB to add video.

We could have waited to see the NEW one sometime this summer, but we were having problems with our old phones and I wanted to start using it for Disney stuff!!!!!!

It's only a few months. Either the new phone will be really cool and you'll really want one - or the old ones will come down in price and you'll wish you didn't pay so much.

I'd wait.

I'd wait. It looks like the 4G may have some neat stuff that the current phones don't (though it's all just conjecture at this point). I love my iPhone!

I'd buy the "old" phone at a discount when the "new" phone comes out. :thumbsup2

Wait to buy. It's looking like sometime in June for a release of the new phone.

Agreed.
Wait until the new phone is released and if you really like the new one and think it's worth it for the new design & new features, get the new one. If not, get a 3GS for a discounted price.

I have a 3GS and love it. I hate the design for the new iPhone and, to me, the new features (that have been announced already) aren't worth it, so I'll be sticking with my 3GS :)

Honestly?

Pick a phone that works best for you and does what you want in the way you want it to.

I sent back the iPhone, in part because I hate AT&T and it's lousy coverage, and switched to the Motorola Droid with Verizon (far better coverage).

I love the Droid and could not care less what others think. It works for me, and does exactly what I need it to do, and does it very well. It's more intuitive than the iPhone, and with the slide out keyboard, far more convenient for me to use. Combined with the better coverage and service from Verizon, the "cool iPhone with AT&T" didn't stand a chance.

Then again, I've never been one who cared much what others thought of my choices in products. :confused3

I'm in a similar boat.... my phone is old (very old) and not working well. Just this weekend it has stopped ringing. Time for a new one!! I want an iPhone really badly, but it's always been the cost of the plan that has changed my mind. But I'm going to bite the bullet and step up.

I'm waiting till next week (June 7th) for the announcement regarding the new phones and keeping my fingers crossed they will discount the 32GB 3GS phones some. If not, I'll be saving a few more pennies (or twenties) for the new one.

I can live with my non ringing phone for a small bit longer... I hope!
