I consider this a budget question, because geting the correct information may help MY budget, LOL!
My husband went through Disney College program years ago, and completely became a Disney Nut because of it. He collects allll kinds of Disney Mugs from yard sales, flea markets and even from the resorts themselves. We keep them stored in the attic with other things. Today, I was up in the attic going through things for a yard sale, and found the mug collection. I brought them out to look at and clean while my neighbor was outside, too. He about went nuts when he saw 2 of the mugs. They are a very nice pair of Yellow Dixie Landings Mugs with Mickey on the side. He offered me $50 for the pair! Well, being my Hubby is totally attached to this stuff, I declined until I could check with him. He's not home yet, and I am anxious and stumped...Are they really worth that much....and if so why? I can't find any info....It's not like you could still use them in the resort or something? Anyone here know why anyone would pay thay much?? Thanks!!

Maybe since Dixie Landings is no more they would be collectible, but I got one for .50 at a thrift store! Sell them to your neighbor for $50.....quick!!!!

I would assume it is because Dixie Landings is no more making this mug very collectible. Tell your neighbor I have several DL pins to sell ;)

another vote to at least sell one of them!

We still have 2 DL mugs left from WAY back! They have Song of the South characters on them but they are almost worn off. DH uses them every day!

Thanks! I guess maybe they are collectable! I guess if hubby agrees (they were his after all) I will sell at least one.

The first mugs back then were forever use. So under the terms and agreements of the purchase at that time, makes them reusable for the rest of the life of the mugs. But their value comes from Dixie Landing no longer existing. But you could still use the mugs at Port Orleans Riverside, since the resort wasn't torn down, just renamed.

50$ is definatly a great price for them, but is your hubbies sentimental value worth more than that?? It's possible to find them again for maybe 10-20$ but they might not be in the condition you have them in. Especially if they've been in the attic, the picture is probably great.

Wow...$50? I have FOUR Dixie Landings Mugs that haven't been used at all since we returned from that trip nine years ago. They are in near-perfect shape.

As a pp said, those older mugs are allowed free refills for the life of the cup. We still have and use ours. Think we will get new ones in Sept though, to atleast have while we are out and about since these dont fit in the stroller cup holders. If you dont reuse them and all they do is collect dust in the attic, Ide sell them. Then again, if your DH is a Disney nut, it may not be worth it to him. GL with what you decide.

Whooo...good thing I did not sell them. My husband came home and confirmed that whole "refillable for life thing"...Although on our last trip it would have been nice to know about that! I would have packed them in the suitcase and saved a few dollars! Plus he loved the whole Dixie Landings theme and turns out we even have a set of the shorter fatter mugs with brier rabbit on them....so we're keepin' them, and although I was a bit excited about the money at first...I am cool with it. Thanks guys!

I thought when we bought our first couple of sets of mugs that they were 'refillable for life' but then was led to believe that I dreamed that up by other posts on the boards. What I can't remember is was it at the resort you purchased them at, or was it at any equivalent resort, or any resort? Did anyone happen to take a picture of those signs way back when, LOL?
I have really old ones from ASSp (from 98) and ASMu (maybe 03?). Some of them are those old fatter styled ones.

I don't know anyone who WOULD pay that much, or at least I hope not. I actually have one of those exact mugs that I will mail you for free! :thumbsup2

Well my husband is no expert, just an alumni of the College program. But, he says that some mugs sold prior to 2002 (or maybe 2000-he thinks) were wrapped in plastic had a black sticker on it stating it was good for free refills for life at any Disney World resort, as long as you were "staying" with Disney. This is just what he remembers, not the definate for sure truth LOL! ...so please don't flame me....I have heard this whole "mug" thing is a hot topic.....

Now that you mention it, I do remember that sticker on the plastic. We've got several from various resorts as well, but I try my best not to check luggage so we'd never have room to take them back for lifetime refills, tempting though it is.

:sail:: MUWAHAHA... even so, BEWARE the dis mug police... :tiptoe:

We still have our 25th Anniversay mugs that were good forever. They're packed with my camping equipment.

I have one of the yellow Dixie Landing mugs. I think I got it in 1995. They are much nicer than the newer ones, larger too. I seldom use it so it's in great condition. Should have brought it home with me today, it's been up at the cottage for years now.

Dare I ask.....what do "mug police" do?:confused3

:lmao: Those are the dis-ers who lurk until someone posts about using refillable mugs on multiple trips - or in the new version, a family of four buys just two mugs and... gasp... shares

Oh, the horror... it is seen as "cheating disney"... but apparently only on the dis... hence the mug police appear in stormtrooper fashion to flame all nearby and ensure that everyone buys their own mug every trip, need it or not... they are the stuff of fantasy and completely fictional... well... most days anyway... :rolleyes1

Is there a more specific site for these? I would like to see all of the "free refills for life" mugs. I like "Grandpa" who cluelessly throw them out at the foodcourts.
