Found another one!

It doesn't get any older than this, folks!

The Castle, summer of 1971. I'm the kid sitting in the stroller in the middle of the photo. That's my dad with me. The old guy on the right in the plaid shorts and big black socks is not a relative. :lmao:

Look how small everything looks!

I had to go hunt them up but I found some.

The buildings are, I assure you, the same size.

Also, WDW first opened to the public on October 1, 1971. I believe it's unlikely (but not impossible) that this photo was taken before then.

Oh, go easy on her..... so the timing is a few months off.:confused3
It's still a great picture!!!
I can't believe the size of the trees!!! and look to the left of the castle.... looks like they put in a lot more trees after this picture was taken.

I remember my Mom and Dad went to florida sometime around spring of '72.... I think. They went alone.... how dare they leave the kids at home!!!!!:sad2:
They drove down and did a whold Florida thing..... Busch Gardens, Sea World, etc... whatever there was then.... and hit MK for one day.
Still can't believe they left 5 kids at home with my Aunt!!! :lmao:

I know most of you like seeing old pics from WDW, but my mom just sent me a bunch of photos from 1958. They had taken a trip to CA from Chicago and my grandpa loved to take pictures. They were slides and my mom has spent many hours scanning and cataloging them. In this batch were pictures from Disneyland. So here they are:

And this was a float in a parade from a few years back:

OMG I never knew that the Castle was pink at one time!!!! Love it!!! Why was it pink???

I remember that parade too lol!!!

It was not only pink, but covered in "candy" to look like a birthday cake for WDW's 25th Anniversary celebration in 1996. Most people on these boards hated the Castle cake - me and you seem to be the only ones that liked it! Here is a pic of it totally covered in the cake stuff.

Here's a picture of the Skyway over Fantasyland:

An old picture of Tomorrowland (just before a thunderstorm) from the Skyway:

I believe this one is from the Skyway as well:

:confused3 Eh. I like the pictures of it. I think it's pretty cute. However, I do not blame the people who canceled their weddings at WDW that year.

Sorry they're so small. That's the way they scanned and I can't figure out how to get them bigger.

Sorry! The photo is quite old, no date on the back, and I based my timing on my age in the pictures. I know the park was very newly open when my parents took me there. We drove up from Miami. So perhaps I should amend the post to say "sometime during 1971, after the Magic Kingdom opened."

Are you sure the buildings haven't changed size? Really? :rolleyes1

BTW, I loved the pics of early Disneyland. The cars are a trip! The grassy course is great! Thanks for posting.
