Old Disney Park photos

And we kids who were in WDW at that time did not wear life vests on the Swan boats:

Or get scared by a Marilyn Manson-ish Eeyore:

or giant tortoises roaming on Discovery Island:

OK, maybe we did (that's me crying ... I must have not wanted to leave ... yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking to it):

But we sucked it up! We wore our tickets proudly before heading out from TTA (nice outfit, dad):

We dealt with the commercialism at an early age as we looked to the future!

Just to make that treck down Main Street:

And have fun at the one park making up Walt Disney World!!!!

To start off, pictures that AMAZE me today:

Seven Seas Lagoon (you can see the Poly way in the back)

Now, I think the name of the character meal boat was the Empress Lily (?). I'm pretty positive it is now Fulton's and was in the same spot it is in now. If so, welcome to DTD!

Another shot of the boat with my sister on a Water Mouse:

Every kid left breakfast with one of the balloons:

And even then, LOVED the HDDR (not) while my sister got down on the washboard with her cool perm and Pac Man iron-on t-shirt. I would love to have either of those shirts now.

Angey - wow! Awesome to see those! I keep meaning to do that with mine, but so far I've only managed to get a few up. And like you I'm relying on what mom and dad took which aren't always the best shots! I love the Swan Boats - can't believe I don't remember them since we were then in 78 and 79 (when I was 12 and 13), but I don't! I also remember eating on the Empress Lily (I think!), but am not sure if that's what later became Fulton's or not!

I remember when those water sprites/mouses? were the coolest thing around! And I love the "Tencennial" sign in front of the train station! I was also going to post a pic with those pin on badges. That was in 79 (for us). Did your dad work for GM or were they widely available then (or for other companies)? I know when we went in 78 we had the A-E tickets, but when we went back in 79 most people still had to use them. They had some special promotion for GM employees where we got to wear those badges and ride EVERYTHING. I remember feeling so special as we watched other folks dealing with pulling out the little tickets while we just strolled on! My next trip back wasn't until 82 for the Epcot opening and I know by then everyone just paid once price but am not sure how the switchover worked.

Thanks for sharing!

I absolutely ADORE the pictures with boys in white tube socks with the colored stripes around the top, pulled up to their knees!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

this is the BEST thread on the Dis! My mom used to dress me in those one piece terry rompers when I was teeny...old navy is selling them this season and my 8 year old step daughter went CRAZY when she saw them, had to have one in every color. Fashion is rolling backwards!! But NO tube socks!!!:rotfl2:

My dad didn't work for GM, but who knows if the people with us did. If you look at the pic of us at TTA, there are a bunch of other girls with us. My parents met their parents at a rest station on the way to WDW. Didn't know them from Adam, but we spent our entire vacation with them!
I have a bunch more pics to come. I actually had scanned in all the photos of all our WDW trips througout the years with intentions of making a personal Web site with them all. That was put on hold one year ago when I started working with a Web site for a living.

Well, it took me all morning and most of the afternoon, but I started and now (sadly) have come to the end of this GREAT thread! Thanks everyone for the memories today! I have laughed and cried to your photos and comments!

My first visit to MK was in 1975 when I was 2, and I have such wonderful memories of my most favorite place with my family. Both of my parents have passed away (this will be the first Mother's Day without my mom), but this thread has warmed my heart and soul by bringing me right back to my childhood and being with them at Disney.

I cannot wait to dig through my old photos this weekend!! Keep posting everyone!!

Here are a few from the new addition to WDW, Epcot and its Future World!

Looking to Imagination (remember that playground they had on the second floor? LOVED IT!)

Imagination-1.jpg

One of the activities in the Imagination pavillion was "lucky participants" (such as my sister and cousin, far left) acting on a blue screen

ImaginationShow2.jpg

They were giants and on-screen, they looked like this as they terrorized some Medieval guys.

OMG, that's so funny! :rotfl:

The one of my brother trying to remove Tigger's head is from 88, and Tigger didn't even attack (the mess in the news a weeks ago).
The other is MGM: note my hand on Jessica and my girlfriend's (now wife's) expression...

The area where Buzz Lightyear is now has gone through many changes over the years....I believe this is how the timeline went....(correct me if I am wrong someone)

If you Had Wings (1972-1987)
Ifyou Could Fly (1987-1989)
Dreamflight?
Take Flight (1989-1998)
Buzz Lightyear (1998)

I remember, the If you could fly, that was the one sponsored by eastern, wasn't it?? I loved that. . .

This is summer 1990, when the Dolphin was new.
"Welcome to our room!"
Don't mind the crazy left over 80's fashion!

Main Street 1992, this is how I always remember it, with lots of trees!
