Old Canon Powershot S3-IS?

I have an old Old Canon Powershot S3-IS. In the last few months I have noticed that I am getting noise on the photos. Can you wear out these cameras? Time to upgrade?

Check your ISO settings via the button on the back. It's probably set to 800.

Yes they can wear out, but it's usually dead pixels you'll start seeing. Checking the ISO setting sounds like a good suggestion to me.

I have loved it too. I will play with the ISO in the AM or I will start shopping for a replacement.


BTW...I don't know how close you are located to the Cape? Our DS goes to the Mass. Maritime Academy. He is loving it. Good college for him.

I am about 2 miles from MMA. Glad he is liking the school! It seems like a great place for kids to earn a degree and get some nice travel in as well.

As far as the camera, I have no idea. Just wanted to chime in on MMA. I had an old S2IS and it still takes great pics but after only a few shots it says the batteries are dead when they aren't.

Yes he is looking forward to his training cruise to New Orleans-Aruba-Jamaica-Bahamas in January/February. He is hoping he will get to go through the Panama Canal in a year or two also. MMA did that cruise last year. Who knew all his DCL cruises would lead to this? He is also hoping to go to their sister school in China.
