I know that this unit is in west village, far from everything. I guess we would drive or use the shuttles. It is located on Cypress Circle, does anyone know if they have been recently remodeled? Any thoughts about this area? I am used to be able to walk to the pool area. Now I am getting a little skeptical about renting this. Help!!!

I stayed in 3212 on Cypress Circle. The unit had a whirlpool tub (regular size) but I understand that not all units in the West Village have whirlpool tubs. The unit is at the upper end of the West Village; ironically, 3212 is probably closer to Splash Lagoon than my unit in the North Village (3804). It is still some distance though and it is, I believe, closer to Splash Lagoon than it is to the main recreation area in the West Village. JBL had some information on Tug that suggested this area was built around 1992/3 or so. I stayed in it last August/September for two weeks. These units are 6-plexes, I believe. Unlike the 6-plexes in the North Village that have the ground level end units 3-bedroom units, these units are 2-bedrooms. While I don't know if it had been refurbished, everything was okay; it might have the 6-year soft refurnishing done the year or so before as it should have been scheduled at the 12 year mark. I wish I took some pictures but I didn't.

thank you for the information. My big concern is that we will have to drive to everything or take a shuttle. We would probably use splash lagoon over the other pools anyway. I have 3 teenage boys and they like to just walk to the pool whenever they want to. Last year we stayed at sheraton vistana and we able to always walk to a pool. Now, I don't know if I should start looking for another resort to rent.

I am so confused because when I look at the map you sent me it looks like the unit is right near yours. I called olcc and they said it was a one floor unit. I have no idea what they were talking about. Did the shuttles run one right after another. Were you able to walk to splash lagoon? Are the beds in the second bedroom fulls or twins. Also do you remember what room layout it was. I am constantly looking at the maps you sent :thumbsup2

The units that I was in was a 2-story building. I was on the upper floor. I looked at the map and it shows 6 units listed together for that area. That would be consistent with what I would expect. Most of the units in the West Village are 1-story units. Units 1001-1008 are listed together but are 1-story building units. I think the person may be new or is confused as the buildings with multiple levels are not the norm.

An interesting way to look at this but it may be difficult to analyze, is to look at satellite maps. For example, you can go to http://maps.google.com/ and use OLCC's address (8505 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, Kissimmee, Fl 34747) and navigate the site until you are on OLCC property (I believe I had to move the map to the right and up when I entered the address), zooming in on locations as you go. You have an option of looking at map, satellite, or hybrid. You might want to use map first to navigate and then switch to satellite. The problem with the satellite images is that you are looking straight down at the top of the roofs making it difficult to determine if it is a 1-story building or a multi-story complex but you can tell the difference between 1-story complexes and 2-story complexes if you have a reference for each. The units across from the West Village recreation center are 1-story (units 1001-1008 mentioned above - I've also stayed in this area) and the units in the North Village are 2-story (except for the multi-story units near Splash Lagoon).

You could walk to Splash Lagoon but it will take maybe 20 minutes or so (rough guess). My understanding is that the shuttles run every 20 minutes. I think there are 23 shuttles on the resort, so there should be enough shuttles to keep the schedule. I think you do have to walk to the corner to get picked up by the shuttle but again, I am not sure.

Oh, Spiceycat stayed at OLCC last October, I think, and she stayed in the West Village. She posted some pictures of OLCC but I don't remember the url to look at the pictures. She was in a 1-story unit but if you pm her, she should be able to give the url to the pictures if they are still available.

I can't believe you just told me this because I was on another site and asked spicey cat if she ever stayed there. I am going to pm her now. Thanks again for all the great information.

I saw your response on TUG. You might ask Timetraveler or JLB for reviews as well. RickandCindy stayed at OLCC but didn't have a good vacation, so you might be interested in their opinions as well. Timetraveler will be extremely pro-OLCC and JLB will give some interesting information about the resort but he always keeps coming back to OLCC; that should say something. Shoney also had a bad experience at OLCC, so you may wish to look at that as well. If you look at the all the reviews, the majority will be favorable but you will find some that are not so good. Some reviews are that are negative are funny and I think Vistana gets some of these as well. For example, somebody didn't like the resort because the towells weren't a specific brandname. Some find the location not to their liking which is fine (I haven't figure some of these out as there will be complaints about 192 and yet they like being on I-drive which, to me, is much, much worse - go figure!). Until I've had a bad experience, I'm not going to say anything bad although I would have designed things differently if I had been in charged. I suspect if most of us were to start from scratch, we'd all have our own ideas as well.

The only thing I didn't like in the area of Cypress Circle was the pond and I'm not sure that OLCC can do anything about it. To me, its a bit of an eyesore but I think it falls under the wetland regulations. Disney has a problem with this with its treehouse villas as the state won't let them remove them or improve them. It does make life interesting. In addition to alligator show that was presented on Wednesday, there was a nature walk to show some of the wildlife on the resort. I haven't done it, but it might be interesting. I think the cost for the hour walk with the guide was $5 per person.

my problem was the distance from OLCC to FW (where Spicey stays) - this trip took around 20 minutes - so 40 minutes around trip - multiply that by 4 (visit to Spicey ) and that amounts to hours - not to mention the time spend with him....

Now I don't go to the parks every day - but I do like to visit the parks....

that was hard to do and kept Spicey visit to normal....

I also didn't like no whirlpool in the room. I don't golf. But I love swimming pools - OLCC has very few and they were far apart.... we definitely had to drive to visit them.

now there is a shuttle I saw it - so your boys could ride it. but I hate to ride stuff like that in a wet bathing suite...(one of the reason I don't pool hop at Disney - DVC can do it)
