We have just booked rooms for February '08 for 2 studios at OKWV. We need one of them to have a roll in shower. Should we request a specific building? Any info on views, noise level, closest to Hospitality Area would be appreciated!

I don't know the specific room #s. I think you should reserve where you want to be, ie Turtle Pond, Hospitality House etc.
Did you book through special needs? They will "pull" the H/A studio and save it for you. There are many more H/A studios and one BR at OKW so it isn't usually a problem but if you must have it have MS go through special needs.

We are DVC owners & booked through DVC. They don't put you through to special services but make the call themselves, then tell you they whether they have availability or not. Which they did, and there is availability but did not tell me which bldg. Since this is our first time at OKW, I don't know where we would want to be. Any suggestions?

I can't tell you exactly - because, first, I don't remember, but besides that what if that unit is occupied when you check in? - but I do know I was able to be transferred to Special Services before arrival; and I also know things change.

Anyway, I originally just specified the need for a first floor unit or elevator building because, well, they haven't perfected the stair-climbing ecv :). But when I got to my room, I realized I wouldn't be able to easily get into the bed. The next day, I moved to an HP unit in Building 24 or 25, next-to-last to the right when you face the building.

Thanks Ronda! After chatting with a few people, it sounds like there are really No Bad Rooms or Bldgs at OKW. So I guess we'll just double check ahead of time to confirm HA roll-in shower room and leave the bldg. assignment up to them.

Funny you mentioned the stair climbing ecv. My DH did a test drive on the IBOT last year. Really cool, it does climb stairs with just a little guiding from an assistant. It was really amazing, but the price was just scary. $25,000 & that was on sale! He decided against it, because it wouldn't work with an EZ lock system in a van, & he really wanted that.
