What is a good area to stay in at OKW where it is away from the busses yet a nice view?

You didn't specify what size villa you'll have. However, from the OKW room reports I have, it seems as if Miller's Road and upper Penninsular are the places to be, in an upper floor room. People in the following buildings have reported on having great golf course views: 17, 20, 21, 23, 25, 26, 31, and 33.

We are staying in a 1 bedroom. Please advise if you have any more information in regard to the location of the 1 bedrooms. Thanks!

To the best of my knowledge all the buildings have one bedrooms! I would not get worked up about getting a golf view, some of the views are very limited. Put first things first, like smoking or non-smoking. The previous poster has some numbers that may help, but getting a building you want may be a stretch, just put golf view and hope for the best. Sometimes the golf views are blocked by trees put there to protect you from the golfers. While you can view the course from many areas, access to the golf course is not allowed. There are about 6 golf holes that run through OKW.

That's so true! I remember silently cursing all those trees blocking our view of the golf course when we got to OKW the first time. Then as I sat on the balcony and so often heard golf balls hitting the trees (think "Incoming!), I realized-"hey, if it weren't for those trees that could be my head!" Although DH LOVES golf (I dread what choice he might make if he had to choose between golf and me), he had to agree that those trees that blocked the view weren't so bad after all.
We've always been in a 1 BR in Southpoint, not so great for golf course views, but nice anyways. The best 1 BR for golf course view seem to be in the Miller Road area-hope we find out some day!

Yes I am a golf widow! My husband and son both golf - so I go to the beach on the weekends or work out during the week when they are golfing. They both work part time on a golf course, so to make matters worse - their golf is free.

Be careful asking for a golf view. Some of the buildings along the fairways have very little view because they are surrounded by trees, 28 and 29 come to mind. I would request a golf green view.

Hey Deb!

Thanks so much! Do you think I would just be better off asking for a water view?

Just stayed at OWK for the first time during MNSSHP. It's nice, but a little too quiet for us. That's just preference. One thing I did not like was that the walls seemed a little "thin". We had a studio. It had an adjoining room, but we did not have that room. We could hear EVERY conversation in the next room. Unfortunately they were not the kind to sleep, so it was late talking and early too! At first I thought it was the "family", but when they moved out, another one came and it was still "loud". We stayed near Turtle pool and loved the location! Given the main pool was closed, it worked out nice.

Unfortunately, you occasionally can get noisy neighbors at any resort. A lot of the noise seems to come underneath the adjoining doors, through the gap betwen the carpet and the door. Often placing a rolled towel or a throw pillow between the 2 door muffles the sound considerably.

As far as views, OKW have very few "great" views, but also very few "awful" views, most are OK. Yes, those trees are partly there for protection. We had a golf ball hit the side of our building on an upper floor...scared the H out of us. If it hit the buildings that hard, I wouldn't want to be hit by one while sitting on a balcony.

After the "almost no view" in building 28 (I requested 23 to 26), I requested water view, Turtle Pond Road. We got great rooms in 31 & 43. Both were beautiful water views, lots of ducks and rabbits around. We ended up in 40 this year, the view was nice but it was close to the road.

I did that and had a great view on the first floor, then a crappy view on the third floor. The trees grew right up to my balcony.
Oh well, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
