We spent 5 days at OKW this past week and I wanted to share some observations. This is a wonderfully peaceful and tranquil location. It is very large and spread out though so come prepared to ride the bus throughout the resort to pick up and deposit your fellow vacationers.

We loved our room on Turtle Pond Road, but the next time we stay there we are going to try to get on Peninsular drive near the bus stop. You can walk very easily to hospitality house, Olivia's, goods to go, and so much more from this location.

The views and decor are perfect. We had very chilly mornings and evenings but daytime was spent just as well at the pool or walking or at a park.

even if you aren't staying there, try Olivia's for a meal. Very very good food and the boat ride to downtown Disney is really a soothing end to a great meal.

We have loved OKW since we first bought there in 1993. Although the decor isn't quite the same since then, nor since the remodel a couple of years ago.

If walking a short distance to get the the HH is important to you, you might consider trying to book the HH category, which is a separate booking category at OKW. Much like room vies at BLT, for example. Then you are guaranteed to get a room in one of those buildings, and if you have an absolute favorite road or building, you could add that to your reservation as a non-guaranteed request.

HH booking category buildings are #11-14 and #23-26.

I nearly always rent a car when staying at OKW. The one time I did not, I managed to snag a unit in Building 27, which has a great location.

Thanks for the tip. I'm keeping the map with my notes. I'll make a note of this tip for the future.

We love the OKW, bought there in 2000 and it has continued to be our 'go to' resort. Love the laid back atmosphere and how convenient it is to get around in. Glad you had a super time.

We spent one night at OKW a couple of years ago and thought it was OK. But we are excited to say we have a six night trip to OKW in mid April that we are looking forward to.

The last time we were in the Millers Road area and it wasn't to far to walk to the hospitality house.

The only thing we didn't like was having two beds instead of the sofa bed. It's just the two of us so we didn't need to use the other bed at all. :wave2:

We also love OKW and bout there is 1995. We are just the opposite of you....we like to stay in the back of the resort. The farther away from the hub bub of the Hospitality House the better! Actually, no where is more than a 10 minute walk back to the HH if we need to go there. And we always rent a car when we go to WDW. Hate waiting on those buses!

We just spent last week at OKW too, which is our home resort, but first time staying there.

We loved it there, and enjoyed our location. We were in building 16, which was pretty close to HH, and close to the Peninsular Road bus stop. We ended up walking to HH bus stop when leaving for a theme park, and got off at the first stop at Peninsular Road when coming home. This worked out great.

I was pleased with the resort, and really enjoyed our time there. I happy to call OKW our home!

I think the key is to be as close as possible to hospitality house. I'll be sure to keep that in mind next time. That drive through the entire resort after a long day at the parks was the only drawback to my location.

Glad you enjoyed it. I did too

i bought in 1993, loved it then, still do. i had to sell that contract about 10 years ago. recently bought another and am waiting on my points to come (any day now).

i too love the peaceful and beautiful areas in back of the resort, particularly those that have water views.

catch any bus from any stop and the last stop before the bus leaves the resort is the hospitality house.

The rooms are huge compared to all the other resorts and the Grand villa is awesome if you ever go with a large group. I also love the location

Let me add a little to that. We noticed last time that if you want to be first on/first off-that means you'll have no problem getting a seat in the morning, but you'll ride around the whole resort before leaving for the park; in the afternoon you may stand, but yours will be the first bus stop. For that scenario, stay on Penninsula Road. We were in Building #28 and loved this. However, if you stay on Miller's Road, you'll be last on/last off. That means you'll probably stand in the morning when you get on the bus but go directly to the park (unless you make one stop first, at the HH, sometimes the bus is too full and the driver just goes from Miller's Road to the park); but then in the afternoon, you drive through the whole resort before the Miller's Road stop. Ironically, we'd asked for Miller's Road last trip, first time without a car and relying on buses, and although we were initially a little sad that we didn't get the area we wanted, we soon came to really appreciate where they'd put us.
