Just booked a week at OKW for the last week of the month next August. We have never been in August. I know it will be hot but any advice?

Go to the parks early, take a break in the middle of the day and swim, eat and relax at OKW, then return to the park when it cools down and the crowds lessen.

UGH! We did it twice....NEVER again! I didn't really enjoy those trips at all. It was either too hot or too wet or both.

We go 1st week of June, 1st week of August and Oct or Nov every year!

August is Water Park time! We make sure that if we even attempt the other parks, we fit in a water park in between each day!

Also the sun is like a death ray from 11 to 3:30, after the sun comes down a little, it's still hot but tolerable.

We do the early morning openings and especially at parks like AK & DHS that are 1/2 days parks, we head out before the big heat hits!

Sorry don't mean to hijack this thread, but how is the end of June? We have always been in May before (never to OKW - our first time super excited) and was just curious as to any opinions on the end of June...crowds, weather...TIA :)

1st 2 weeks of June - Not as humid or hot, crowds are less since most northern schools haven't let out yet. THis year was a brutal summer but June is usually a little cooler. This is when I vacation every year!!! It's all about the water parks! Theme park lines run about 15 to 20 minutes! We take off for a week at Disney around the 6th to the 11th.

End of June - Humidity starts to come up and the mid-afternoon rains begin, but it's still way better than July and August.

July & August - All of the schools have let out, the humidity is at full bore, and we find it best not to be at the parks between 12-4pm, way too hot. 3:30 thunder storms just about daily, but it's O.K. because by 5pm it's sunny again, but real humid! Europeans love the heat so they usually vacation late July and August! We go again here just for 2 days before school starts around 8/11-12 and strictly do water warks, theme parks way to hot and muggy! Lines too long!

Late August - Florida schools go back between Aug 16 -August 24th, so the local crowds starts to thin a bit but it's still crowed and too darned hot!

August is hot & humid! We stay OKW this past July/Aug and was one of the most relaxing vacations we ever had. But we are empty nesters and did not have to run the parks. Enjoy breakfast on the porch, South Point pool was quiet, even had one day for about 1 hour all to myself. We then hit the parks around 5 and stay out late. Parks are open late during the summer so plan accordingly depending on what your kids want to do. Just don't over do it during the day. Enjoy

Go to the parks early and avoid ones which have the extra magic hour. They are always busy because so many people go to take advantage of the extra hour.

We have found lines are smaller at the parks which had the extra magic hour the day before.

Leave around 12pm and go back to the resort and relax.
