Any thoughts on why there are so many OKW resales availble? I realize that there are many more units there than the other DVC's but I wonder if they are selling so they can buy into VWL or BW

Well, I'd say the big reason is that OKW members have owned DVC for the longest, some as long as 10 years. Maybe they're just starting to get tired of it. In my case, I've owned for four years and have taken 8 WDW vacations. I could sell and make a lot more than what I originally paid (I bought a resale). If I needed the money or felt that I'd had enough WDW, it would be very tempting to put it up for sale.

I doubt that a single person is selling OKW to buy WVL. That's my theory anyway.

I agree that as the years of ownership increase so do the life changes that cause resales -- divorce and death being two of the primary ones. Of course, there are also those whose vacation plans change as well. 10 year owners may have kids who are now grown and no longer want to go to WDW (hard to believe) or who are themselves unable to travel as much anymore (70 with grandkids when purchased, now 80 as an example.)

In my humble opinion I think you see more OKW available for sale because there are more that own OKW and it has been around longer. I think BWVs are the hotter property; however, from a financial viewpoint it would not make sense to sell OKW and then buy BWVs or VWL. You could buy add-on at VWL. In essense you would have two home resorts. Moreover, resales are not the bargain they were several months ago and each deal has to be evaluated carefully. The resale inventory is very low and from my observation don't usually last on the boards more than one or two days. At present it is a sellers market.

With all of the above considered, if I couldn't buy at OKW or BWVs I would consider VWL. You would receive all the Disney amenties and purchase at a reasonable price. It appears the price is only going to go up. Good luck! I am sure you will make the right decision! Enjoy!!

all true, i guess i was just curious because each time I look, BWV's are "sale pending" but I see many OKW,
