We have only stayed at OKW once and that was in a studio for 2 nights just to check the resort out. We are planning to return in early Feb of 2007 and will have our two teen boys and our 19 month old daughter and (?) two month old daughter with us. We chose OKW because we felt it offered a more relaxed atmosphere than our usual BWV and BCV's. Our boys really enjoyed the new pool when we stayed for the weekend last summer and we were fortunate to be fairly close it.

My question is this: If proximity to the main pool and a bus stop are important and would like a water view what area would you request?

Also, how long is the boat ride to downtown Disney?

How do you feel about the food quality of Olivia's?

Thanks!!!!

There are a few bldgs that would fit your criteria. Assuming you will have a larger than studio unit, most of the 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom units in that area will be the early phases of OKW buildings, and will have only one entrance to the main bathroom - through the master bedroom...however, if you are getting a 2 bedroom unit (I am assuming you are), it really won't be a concern, as the 2nd bedroom wiull have a bathroom of its own.

I would simply list your requests to be near the Hospitality area and request a water view. Most of the units meeting that request will be near the first bus stop (Peninsular Road), just across the bridge from the main pool.

However, if you need newer units with bathroom access through the laundry room, you will be further away from the main pool, in bldgs 30 and higher.

As far as Olivia's...I don't care for the new menu selections at lunch & dinner. Breakfasts are still great. The "steak salad" is pretty good on the lunch/dinner menu though...if you don't want it spicy, get a different dressing..it normlly comes with a red pepper dressing, but either way, I wouldn't want to eat steak salad ALL the time. We often take the boat to DtD for Earl of Sandwich.

Have a great trip.

A two bedroom is what I will book. With all the baby junk I can't imagine anything smaller. We could legally book a one bedroom but a two bedroom is so much more comfortable!

A little less than a half hour. It runs hourly in the day, and every half hour in the evening. It makes a stop at SSR before continuing on to MarketPlace.
(It will also stop at West Side, but only on demand. It will not pick up at West Side on the return.)

Buses run to DTD as well as the boat. Here is a map. The light shaded areas are water (some canal, some ponds and golf hazards) and the darker shaded areas are golf course.

I know we requested a first floor room/elevator building-room as I'll be spending a lot of time in my wheelchair, but won't know if it can be honored when we check in this Saturday. Temporary knee injury and postponed surgery, we're going anyways and making the best of it.

As beautiful as OKW looks on pictures and from your tripreports, I think this is the place to be right now, put a big smile on my face and hoping the tylenol will do its work for me :goodvibes

Oh, and just being in WDW will do its trick pixiedust:

If you requested first floor or elevator for Medical Reasons and something to that efffect is on your reservation/in the computer for you, you should not have a problem with getting a studio, 1 or 2 bedroom (GVs are a different story since there are very few accessible without going up stairs).

If the request is not in as a medical request, then it's just a request, like any other.
